DEATH AT PENN STATE (Hulu, New!) - Robert Greenblatt is developing a new limited series at the streamer "based on Caitlin Flanagan's November 2017 feature in the Atlantic, Death at a Penn State Fraternity. The project, like Flanagan's story, explores fraternity life and specifically tells the story of Tim Piazza who fought for his life for 12 hours before his Beta Theta Pi brothers called 911. By then it was too late." Joe Hortua is penning the script and will executive produce alongside Flanagan, Greenblatt and director Kevin Bray. The Green Room's Jon Wu will co-executive produce for Lionsgate Television. (THR.com)
DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY, THE (Hulu) - Director Todd Field is the latest to exit the proposed series adaptation of Erik Larson's novel. The news follows last week's departure of series star Keanu Reeves. (Variety.com)
FATAL ATTRACTION (Paramount+) - Walter Perez will recur on the featured-turned-TV series as Jorge Perez, "an easygoing DDA who is described as sweet and genuine. He succeeds in his own work ethic without locker room talk." (Deadline.com)
FEAR (Peacock, New!) - Jessica Goldberg is spearheading a small screen take on the 1996 Reese Witherspoon/Mark Wahlberg-led film: "This modern series reinvention finds two young lovers in a psychological game of cat and mouse—but who's the cat, and who's the mouse? When David and Nicole first meet in Seattle, it feels like an epic, once-in-a-lifetime romance - but soon it becomes clear that the seemingly perfect couple is anything but. Told from conflicting points of view, the series wrestles with personal demons, hidden agendas and reframes the "he said she said" convention into a twist-filled suspense story about toxic relationships." Imagine Television's Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Lilly Burns and Kristen Zolner will also executive produce for Universal Television. (Variety.com)
GIRL SCOUT MURDERS (FOX Nation, New!) - The streaming service has dropped a four-part documentary which "will examine new revelations about the case that have recently surfaced due to Faith Phillips, an author who has written a book about the crime. In June of 1977, the bodies of three young girls, Lori Lee Farmer, 8; Michelle Guse, 9; and Doris Denise Milner, 10, of Tulsa, were discovered after they had been abducted from their tent during the night. Two different men have been identified as the potential killer over the years, but one was acquitted and the other was never found guilty by trial." Texas Crew Productions is behind the project. (Variety.com)
IRONHEART (Disney+) - Sonia Denis is the latest bound for the Marvel Studios series in a to-be-determined role. (Variety.com)
MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH, THE (Showtime) - The pay channel has canceled the featured-turned-TV series after one season. (THR.com)
OPEN BOOK (A.K.A. JESSICA SIMPSON COMING-OF-AGE SCRIPTED SERIES) (Freevee) - Katelyn Tarver and John Stamos have been tapped to star in the half-hour scripted pilot, inspired by Jessica Simpson's bestselling memoir, from writer Tom Kapinos and director Adam Bernstein. Tarver will play Simpson analogue Sadie Sparrow with Stamos recurring as Butch Thorn, a washed up songwriter who is tasked to work with Sadie. Simpson, Kapinos, Bernstein, Patrick Moran, Lauren Auslander and Lacy Lynch are the executive producers for PKM Productions and Amazon Studios. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED WAYANS PROJECT (CBS, New!) - Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr. are attached to star in a multi-camera comedy at the Eye which "revolves around legendary talk radio host and happily divorced "Poppa" (Wayans), who has to drag his grown son (Wayans Jr.), who has all his charm and none of his drive, kicking and screaming into adulthood before he turns 40." The elder Wayans and Kevin Hench are penning the project for CBS Studios-based Two Shakes Entertainment with all three executive producing. (Deadline.com)
WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? (NBC) - The network has reportedly parked its revival of the series while "a final decision is expected to come in early 2023." (Deadline.com)
WINCHESTERS, THE (The CW) - Executive producers Jensen and Danneel Ackles have renewed their first-look deal with Warner Bros. Television for two more years. The pact gives the studio first crack at their banner Chaos Machine's output. (Variety.com)
