Tiger Aspect Productions is producing. (Deadline.com)
INTERIOR CHINATOWN (Hulu) - Jimmy O. Yang is set to star in the 10-episode series for the streamer, about Willis Wu, "a background actor in a procedural cop show called Black & White. Relegated to the background, Willis goes through the motions of his on-screen job, waiting tables and dreaming about a whole world beyond Chinatown. When he inadvertently becomes a witness to a crime, Willis begins to unravel a criminal web in Chinatown, and in the process discovers what it feels like to be in the spotlight." Charles Yu is behind the project, which is based on his 2020 bestseller of the same name. Executive producers Todd Garner and Dimitri Logothetis as well as showrunner Gary Scott Thompson are among the auspices: "Operation: Kickboxer will be a martial arts-driven espionage series which finds the youngest Sloane brother, Michael, thrust into the world of international geopolitical intrigue. In order to earn his freedom, Sloane must go undercover as an MMA contender, using his clout to gain access to targets around the world, while remaining in contention for the champion title belt." (Deadline.com)
PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS (Disney+) - Adam Copeland, Suzanne Cryer and Jessica Parker Kennedy have all been cast in the Rick Riordan adaptation. Hauser has scored a 20-episode order for a new multi-camera sitcom based on the popular books, which "follows the adventures of Frankie Ripp, a 14-year-old girl who has a seemingly perfect life - great parents, annoying little brother, lifelong BFF - until she dies. After some heated debate in the Underworld with the Grim Reaper herself, Frankie is allowed to return home, but only if she's accompanied by her new Underworld guardians, Pretty and Scary. Frankie will now have to adapt to her 'once-dead' status in the most challenging setting of all... Middle School."
