AMERICAN MANHUNT: THE BOSTON MARATHON BOMBING (Netflix, New!) - The streamer has commissioned a three-part series which "will explore the tragedy, which saw terrorists bomb the marathon finish line." Director Floyd Russ is behind the project, due on April 12, with Tiller Russell, Aaron Ginsburg, William Green, Kerstin Emhoff and Ali Brown executive producing for Tillerman Films, The Cut Productions and Ventureland. Tina Gazzerro Clapp also co-executive produces. (Deadline.com)
APPLES NEVER FALL (Peacock) - Georgia Flood, Conor Merrigan Turner and Essie Randles are the latest additions to the limited series. Flood will play Savannah, "who shows up at the Delaneys' place in the middle of the night, fleeing a toxic relationship. While she and Joy Delaney grow close, Joy's kids begin to suspect Savannah's not who she says she is." Turner then is set as Logan Delaney: "When an attempt to go pro flamed out, Logan planned to take over his parents' tennis academy. But instead, he's found inner peace managing the local marina in West Palm." And Randles is Brooke Delaney: "Running a physical-therapy practice and planning a wedding with her fiancée, Gina, she is the youngest Delaney and her father's clear favorite." (Deadline.com)
CASE AGAINST ADNAN SYED, THE (HBO) - Director Amy Berg has inked a first-look deal with Fremantle to develop new documentary projects via her Disarming Films banner. (Deadline.com)
DROP-OFF (ABC) - Michaela Conlin is the latest addition to the Ellie Kemper-led comedy pilot as Liz, "another single mom at Julia's (Kemper) kids' school. She's cool, doesn't care (but she loves her kids, 7-year-old Danny and the baby). Unlike Calvin and Julia, Liz doesn't like the inner circle of moms at their kids' school and doesn't want to be part of them. Liz lives a bit of an alternative lifestyle - there's pretty much nothing in her apartment except a giant mattress on the floor - and her breezy disregard for the status quo is comforting to both Calvin and Julia." GATTACA (Showtime, New!) - Howard Gordon, Alex Gansa and Craig Borten are set to team for a small screen take on the 1997 Ethan Hawke/Uma Thurman-led led movie, which "takes place a generation after the events of the film, when science and humanity have evolved to the point where we can direct our own evolution. Genetic engineering has created a world in which parents can determine the future of their children before they are born (the Valids), which by default has created a new underclass, no longer determined by social status or the color of one's skin (the Invalids). Set in the near future where corporations screen their employees based on their genetic makeup, the series centers on a man with a congenital heart condition who tries to assume the identity of a former athlete with perfect genes in order to fulfill his dream of traveling in space." Gordon, Gansa, Glenn Gellar and Danny DeVito are the executive producers for Sony Pictures Television. (Deadline.com)
HOTEL COCAINE (MGM+) - Danny Pino has been tapped to topline the upcoming crime thriller at the network, which tells the story of Roman Compte, Cuban exile, CIA operative, and general manager of the The Mutiny Hotel, the glamorous epicenter of the Miami cocaine scene of late '70s and early '80s. The Mutiny Hotel was Casablanca on cocaine, a glitzy nightclub, restaurant, and hotel frequented by Florida businessmen and politicians, international narcos, CIA and FBI agents, models, sports stars, and musicians. Writer Chris Brancato, director Guillermo Navarro, Michael Panes and Alfredo Barrios Jr. are the executive producers for MGM+ Studios and MGM Television. (Deadline.com)
JUDGEMENT (ABC) - Reid Scott and François Arnaud are set to star opposite Sarah Shahi in the drama pilot. Scott plays Tommy Quinn, "a high-powered defense attorney and partner at one of D.C.'s most successful law firms. He's charming, confident and - some might say - deliciously arrogant. He's the brother of Deputy Solicitor General Leo Quinn (Arnaud) and finds himself instantly attracted to Leo's lawyer girlfriend, Mia (Shahi), who he lures to his firm for reasons that might not be entirely above board." and Arnaud's Quinn is "a driven, righteous D.C. attorney, currently serving as Deputy Solicitor General. He and his brother Tommy have a contentious history, which isn't helped when Tommy hires Leo's girlfriend to work at his firm. Sweet and intelligent, Leo is an incredibly supportive partner, a proud feminist and is happy to help Mia achieve her goals, but when those goals begin to conflict with his own ambitions, it will test his deepest beliefs and his relationship." NO. 1 SUPREME CITIZEN OF AMERICA (FOX, New!) - Comedian Peter S. Kim is set to star in a new single-camera/hybrid comedy at the network which "focuses on a USA-obsessed immigrant Sun Min Kim (Kim) as he attempts to ace his upcoming citizenship test by hitting the road and learning what it means to be American from the multi-faceted citizens of our expansive nation." Kim will also write and executive produce alongside Jim Margolis for FOX Entertainment. (Deadline.com)
ONE DAY IN DECEMBER (Netflix, New!) - Lucy Boynton is attached to star in a new romantic drama series for the streamer based on the Josie Silver novel of the same name about Laurie (Boynton), who "is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist anywhere but the movies... that is until she meets a man who she knows instantly is the one and spends a year or so scouring London in search of the mystery man, until she learns he's Jack, the new boyfriend of her best friend, Sarah." Writer/director Drake Doremus is spearheading the project for Fifth Season with Boynton and Contenta Superba's Joel Stillerman also executive producing. (Deadline.com)
UNTITLED DOCTOR WHO UNIT SPIN-OFF PROJECT (Disney+, New!) - Jemma Redgrave's Kate Stewart is slated to topline a spin-off of the "Doctor Who" franchise based on military research organization UNIT and "will focus on her running of the unit, which has appeared on and off in Doctor Who for the past 50 years." Russell T. Davies is behind the project with Bad Wolf and BBC Studios presumably co-producing. (Deadline.com)
WILLOW (Disney+) - The streamer has nixed its sequel series to the 1988 fantasy film after one season. (Deadline.com)
