Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe Documentary Series Coming to Netflix

· Netflix has commissioned a three-part documentary series on the death of Boston police officer John O'Keefe in Canton, Massachusetts.

· O'Keefe was found unresponsive in the snow in the early hours of January 29, 2022 and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. His then-girlfriend, Karen Read, was charged with second degree murder, manslaughter while operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, and for leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.

· Read pleaded not guilty to all charges, with her legal team arguing that she was framed as part of a conspiracy by civilians and law enforcement to protect the real killers.

· On July 1, 2024, the jury in Karen Read's trial was unable to reach a unanimous verdict, and a mistrial was declared. Norfolk County Prosecutors have announced that they intend to retry the case, while the Defense have filed to dismiss two of the charges.

· Production Company: Sandpaper Films

· Executive Producers: Susannah Price, Henry Singer

· Co-Directors: Danielle Johnson, Rob Miller

· "The team feels immensely privileged to be bringing this important series to a Netflix global audience. It is a case that has garnered a huge amount of public attention and has far reaching implications. We are also mindful that this is a hugely sensitive case and we are determined to treat all those involved with the respect and consideration they deserve." - Danielle Johnson and Rob Miller, Co-Directors

· This series joins Netflix's lineup of in-depth true crime docuseries like Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal, Making a Murderer, Amanda Knox, The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez, Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, American Nightmare, Don't F**ck with Cats: Hunting an Internet Killer, American Murder: The Family Next Door, the untitled Gilgo Beach serial killer series and more.
