Max Announces Two New Original French Scripted Series At Content London 2024

Vera Peltekian, VP of Original Productions at Max France, detailed the French editorial line of Max, the recent successes of the first original French productions "The Confidante" and "Breaking the Bank" as well as a preview of new projects in production for the streaming service launched in France last June, at the professional market "Content London."

On this occasion, Vera Peltekian stated: "Thanks to strong choices, our ambition with our French productions is to anchor Max even more firmly in the French market with an audience that demands high-quality storytelling. We produce original works that are both universal, unique, and timeless."

Max also revealed two initial fiction projects:

Privileges (working title) / Thriller of 6 x 52' episodes

Young inmate Adèle lands a day job at a luxurious Paris hotel as part of an early-release deal, willing to endure any humiliation for a fresh start. But when she discovers her criminal past and her disposability are the very reason the Palace hired her, a dangerous game of power and manipulation begins.

Created, written and directed by Marie Monge and Vladimir de Fontenay, Privileges is their second collaboration (Vampires, Netflix). The recurring thriller series (6x52') is produced by Hugo Gélin (Zazi Séries). Shooting in January 2025.

Paolo (working title) / Drama of 7 x 52' episodes

Paolo's ordinary working-class existence is upended when he encounters the ambitious, and magnetic local politician Téophane, an old school mate. What begins as admiration and a desire to help Téophane's campaign, soon spirals into an all-consuming obsession, leading to a deadly ride in this intense psychological Ripley-style thriller.

Created, written and directed by Sébastien Marnier - Faultless, The The Origin of Evil, Children are Kings (Disney +) the returning series (7x52') is co-written by Juliette Soubrier and produced by Floriane Cortes (Mintee). Shooting in 2025.

After launching its first scripted series in October, "The Confidante," and in November, its first documentary series, "Breaking the bank" Warner Bros. Discovery's streaming service will notably launch in 2025:

Malditos (working title) / Series of 7 x 52' episodes

In the south of France, the leader of a Gypsy community and her two sons struggle to save their clan threatened with eviction by rising waters. To survive, they will have to cross the boundaries of legality and fight their way through a dark and dangerous world... all the while concealing the unspoken secret that has haunted their family for seven years. This action-packed crime thriller is produced by White Lion Films (Eve Muller and Noor Sadar) (Mediawan)

A series created by Jean Charles Hue and Olivier Prieur, based on a collaboration with Guillaume Grosse and Laurent Teyssier. Written by Jean Charles Hue (Mange Tes Morts, La BM du Seigneur), Olivier Prieur (Les Rivières Pourpres) and Maya Haffar (En Thérapie). Directed by Jean Charles Hue (Mange Tes Morts, La BM du Seigneur) (5 episodes) and Cécilia Verheyden (Undercover, Ferry) (2 episodes).

Reformed (working title) / Series of 8 x 30' episodes

Léa, 28, is one of France's first female rabbis: frail shoulders, great responsibilities as she has to find answers in the labyrinth of small and big questions in people's lives. But how can she be a guide for others when she herself is grappling with the fundamentals of love, family and the millennial's quest for meaning?

This dramedy is produced by Fédération Studios, and freely adapted by Noé Debré and Benjamin Charbit from the nonfiction memoir by Rabbi Delphine Horvilleur.

The Seduction / Drama of 6 x 52' episodes

To be the hero of your own story, you sometimes have to be the villain in others'. Marquise de Merteuil, betrayed by Valmont, embarks on a daring journey to become Paris' leading courtesan. Freely adapted from the novel "Les Liaisons Dangereuses" by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, a thrilling exploration of the price of emotional & sexual freedom -- in a world where women had little.

Directed by Jessica Palud, created and written by Jean-Baptiste Delafon, produced by NABI Productions (UGC group) (Clément Birnbaum, Joachim Nahum), Felicita Films (Newen Studios Group) (Marie Guillaumond).

Now or Never - FC Montfermeil / Mini-docuseries of 30' Episodes

The youth of the most legendary amateur football club have one season to achieve their dream: becoming professional footballers. The countdown has begun...

A series directed by Ousmane Ly, created by Guillaume and Nicolas Thevenin, written by Mitchell Rosenbaum, produced by Myriam Weil, Federation Studio France, and Guillaume Thevenin, Riggins Films.
