ANIMAL CONTROL (FOX) - Kyla Pratt will recur on eight episodes of the upcoming season as Daisy, "a new member of the Seattle Animal Control squad who serves as Templeton Dudge's (Gerry Dee) partner." (Variety.com, 7/23)
BEST MEDICINE (FOX) - Cree Cicchino is the latest addition to the upcoming drama as Elaine Denham, described as "adorable, energetic, ambitious with enormous dreams - she's getting out of this two-bit town as soon as possible. Elaine is somehow incredibly charming while being completely inept at her job, too busy hatching schemes on how to become a YouTube star. She is clueless on why Martin is always so upset with her. Her energy is upbeat, positive, basically the opposite of Martin." (Variety.com, 7/22)
BOOSTER GOLD (HBO Max) - David Jenkins has been tapped to pen the long-in-the-works DC Comics adaptation in which a man uses basic technology from the future to pretend to be a superhero in present day. (Deadline.com, 7/23)
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (REBOOT SERIES) (Hulu) - Faly Rakotohavana, Ava Jean, Sarah Bock, Daniel Di Tomasso, and Jack Cutmore-Scott are the latest additions to the revival pilot. Rakotohavana will play Hugo, "a privileged, likable high-school student who is a geek"; with Jean as Larkin, "another student described as a chronic do-gooder"; Bock as Gracie, "the ringleader for a group of church-going students"; Di Tomasso as Abe, "Nova's single father who is a photojournalist"; and Scott as Mr. Burke, "a popular high school teacher." CHICAGO PD (NBC) - Arienne Mandi has joined the cast of the show's 13th season as Naomi Kerr: "She is a former soldier and military contractor who is said to thrive in dangerous situations. She is described as a fearless outsider who keeps her cards close to the vest." (Deadline.com, 7/22)
DETECTION CLUB, THE (BritBox, New!) - BBC Studios Drama Productions is developing a new series about "a mysterious society of famous crime writers whose members included Agatha Christie, Dorothy L. Sayers and G.K. Chesterton." No auspices were given for the project, which "is understood to be taking a 'mystery-of-the-week' style approach with fictional versions of Christie, Sayers and Chesterton set as the main characters solving crimes each episode." E! NEWS (E!) - The cable channel has once again nixed its signature news show. The most recent incarnation bowed on November 14, 2022 after a two-year hiatus and will sign off on September 25. (Deadline.com, 7/24)
ETERNALLY YOURS (CBS) - Joe Port and Joe Wiseman's single-camera comedy has scored a pilot order after starting a development room in March: "Eternally Yours is an eternal love story about two vampires who have been married for 500 years, and their struggles to accept the human who is dating their daughter." Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum and Jason Wang will also executive produce for CBS Studios and The Tannenbaum Company. (Deadline.com, 7/24)
EXTRAORDINARY ATTORNEY WOO (Netflix, New!) - Leila Gerstein is spearheading an English-language adaptation of the Korean series at the streamer: "Premiering on Netflix and on ENA in South Korea in June 2022, Extraordinary Attorney Woo starred Park Eun-bin as Woo Young-woo, a rookie attorney with autism spectrum disorder and a remarkable photographic memory, who achieves success at a major law firm in Seoul given her legal acumen and unique perspective on her work, despite initial skepticism from her colleagues." Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed will also executive produce for Jerry Bruckheimer Television. (Deadline.com, 7/23)
FORKLIFT (NBC, New!) - Comedian Chris Estrada has sold a single-camera comedy to the network: "In Forklift, co-written by Estrada and Rick Cisario, Victor (Estrada), a forklift driver promoted to warehouse supervisor, finds that upward mobility comes with a cost when his friends and co-workers go from viewing him as their brother to now being part of "Big Brother."" Kent Alterman, Sarah Babineau, and Jordan Tilzer will also executive produce for Good Walk and Universal Television. (Deadline.com, 7/21)
HAPPY FACE (Paramount+) - The streamer has canceled the series, starring Annaleigh Ashford and Dennis Quaid, after one season. (Deadline.com, 7/21)
LAW & ORDER: SVU (NBC) - Departing cast member Octavio Pisano will return for the show's season premiere, presumably to formally send off his character, Joe Velasco. (Deadline.com, 7/24)
MEMORY OF A KILLER (FOX) - Odeya Rush has landed a role on the upcoming drama as Maria, "Angelo's daughter. Married young and pregnant, it seems she's chosen a quiet life. But something stirs in her - a yearning for adventure. Might she be a chip off the old hitman block? Angelo is Maria's everything, so when his mind begins to falter, she's right there by his side to care for him. OFF CAMPUS (Amazon) - Khobe Clarke will recur on the series as Beau Maxwell, "Briar's star quarterback on their not particularly successful football team who has been best friends since high school with one of Blair's hockey stars, Dean Di Laurentis (Stephen Kalyn)." (Deadline.com, 7/25)
PLEASE SEE HR (Hulu, New!) - Evan Waite has sold a workplace comedy to the streamer: "While specifics as to the plot are under wraps, the show is set in the Human Resources department of Miser Perpetuale, a massive, for-profit healthcare "provider" (legally, they have to put that in quotation marks)." Alec Sulkin, Trevor Engelson, and Doug Banker will also executive produce for 20th Television, Underground Films, and Five All in the Fifth Entertainment. Sean Shepard serves as a producer. RESIDENT ALIEN (USA Network) - Creator Chris Sheridan has confirmed the series has been canceled after four seasons. Its de facto finale airs August 8. (TVInsider.com, 7/24)
SCHOOL SPIRITS (Paramount+) - The show's third season has tapped the following actors to recur: Jennifer Tilley as Dr. Deborah Hunter-Price; Ari Dalbert as Kyle; and Erika Swayze as Livia. UNTITLED AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL LEAGUE PROJECT (Amazon, New!) - Box to Box Films has booked a new docuseries at the streamer that will go behind the scenes of the Australian Football League (AFL): "The untitled docuseries will cover the goings-on during the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership season; filming will begin this week, and the series will launch on Prime Video worldwide sometime in 2026. The series will follow the winning Box to Box formula of going behind the scenes, offering viewers unprecedented levels of access and capturing some of the seldom-seen drama." UNTITLED CINDERELLA PROJECT (Disney+, New!) - Rachel Shukert's proprosed take on "Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella," which is from the perspective of the fairy godparents, has landed at Disney+ for development. Jennifer Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Benny Medina, Sophia Dilley, Scott Pascucci, and Bill Bost are also on board to executive produce for Nuyorican Productions, Concord Originals, RKO, and Skydance Television. UNTITLED CLAUS VON BÜLOW PROJECT (Apple TV+, New!) - Jack Thorne is developing a limited series at the streamer about Claus von Bülow, "the socialite who was accused in 1981 of attempting to murder his wife Sunny." UNTITLED DAN FOGELMAN NFL SERIES (Hulu) - Christopher Meloni is the first to be cast in the upcoming drama, "set inside the world of the NFL with a generational family component. Meloni will play the head coach of a team." (Variety.com, 7/23)
UNTITLED ORNELAS, KELIIAA AND WILSON PROJECT (NBC) - The network has passed on its remaining comedy pilot, an ensemble comedy set at a Native community center in Oakland, California. (Deadline.com, 7/23)
WESTIES, THE (MGM+) - Stanley Morgan and Sarah Bolger have both landed roles on the period crime drama. Morgan will play Mickey Flanagan, "the impulsive troublemaker of the Westies gang who's just been released from Bellevue. His devotion to Roarke (Tom Brittney) and his friends blind him to the consequences of his actions, leaving chaos in his wake." And Bolger will play Bridget Walsh, "a steely and calculating IRA operative with a troubled past, the girlfriend of Jimmy Roarke who's passionate about saving Ireland from British oppression." WOLFENSTEIN (Amazon, New!) - Patrick Somerville is spearheading a TV series based on the "Wolfenstein" video games at Amazon MGM Studios: "The "Wolfenstein" franchise helped popularize first-person shooter video games. The games have largely centered on U.S. World War II solider William "B.J." Blazkowicz. In the games, Blazkowicz goes behind enemy lines to fight the Nazis, only to discover they are engaging in bizarre experiments and the occult in an attempt to tip the scales of the war in their favor." Jonah Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham of Kilter Films; James Altman of Keyframe Films; and Jerk Gustafsson of "Wolfenstein" developer MachineGames are also among the executive producers.
