COZY CRIME DRAMA "THE SUNSHINE MURDERS" COMING TO UPTV THIS SEPTEMBER

The new series launches Sept. 4

ATLANTA - August 18, 2025 - UPtv, the home for uplifting entertainment, will premiere the new cozy crime drama The Sunshine Murders Thursday, Sept. 4 with a two-episode premiere beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The Sunshine Murders is about an unlikely crime fighting duo made up of two very different sisters. Shirley, a farmer from New Zealand in search of her father, travels to Athens and meets her half-sister and detective, Helen. Shirley soon helps Helen solve crimes with her 'bush' wisdom and wit while they try to find their missing father.

In the premiere episode, Greek Detective Helen Moustakas is struggling with her job, her teenager and her ex-husband when a New Zealand woman (Shirley Rangi) appears, claiming to be her half-sister. Although adamant that Shirley is unhinged, Helen accidentally brings her to a crime scene involving the mysterious death of an Archaeologist, where Shirley proceeds to inadvertently help with clues. After twisting her ankle, Helen has no choice but to agree to Shirley driving her to interview the suspects at a beautiful hotel, and later to her daughter Thalia's school - which Shirley offers to do on the basis that Helen agrees to have a DNA test. That night, Helen is attacked outside her home, but is fortunately rescued by Shirley. Now, they must find the attacker.

The series stars British pop star Peter Andre, Stephanie Beacham (Dynasty, Coronation Street), Camilla Rutherford (Quant, Phantom Thread), Nick Moran (Lock Stock, Harry Potter), Nina Wadia (Goodness Gracious Me, Eastenders), Marina Sirtis (Star Trek) and Emily Corcoran (The Stolen, Mars).

The Sunshine Murders is produced by The Avenues Media and Green Olive Films in Association with Cork Films, Three Point Capital, Quickfire, HH5, RunVT and Reel One International. Emily Corcoran acts as showrunner and writer alongside co-writer Victoria Taylor-Roberts, also produced by Dionysios Manganis (for Cyprus) Robyn Jordaan (for New Zealand) and Sara Wilkins (for UK). Production and Costume Designer Merryn Corcoran also acted as Executive Producer alongside Piers Holdsworth Hunt, Simos Manganis and Jon and Natalie Yob.
