Thailand's Legendary Outlaw Returns: 'Tee Yai: Born to be Bad' Premieres November 13
Every legend has an origin, every success a backstory... Netflix brings the tale of Thailand's most notorious outlaw back to life in the action-packed drama film Tee Yai: Born to be Bad. Rising star Apo-Nattawin Wattanagitiphat takes on the role of Tee Yai in this present-year reimagining, offering a never-before-seen perspective through the eyes of legendary director Nonzee Nimibutr.
Set in the 70s, the film unveils a new side of Tee Yai's untold story. Director and co-writer Nonzee Nimibutr shared his inspiration for bringing back the story of the most wanted outlaw in history: "Tee Yai: Born to be Bad is the story of an outlaw from the past whose tales we've heard countless times. But this time, I want to present another angle that has never been discussed. His numerous escapes were rumored to be due to magic, but I believe there were close allies or trusted friends who helped him, working behind the scenes and overcoming obstacles together to survive every time. Because I believe a great outlaw like Tee Yai didn't walk this path alone. This is the new perspective I want audiences to experience."
Tee Yai: Born to be Bad follows the collaboration between two sworn friends: Tee, an outlaw who lives as if there's no tomorrow, and Rerk (Most-Wisarut Himmarat), his calm and collected companion. Together, they make a name for themselves with their ingenious heists, becoming legends. But their path as outlaws begins to waver when Dao (Kao-Supassara Thanachat) enters Rerk's life, making him want to retire from the game. Meanwhile, Inspector Jakarat (Joke-Akarin Akaranitimaytharatt), a skilled police officer, is determined to bring them down. The film also features a stellar cast including Cris Horwang, Nont-Sadanont Durongkavarojana, Foei-Patara Eksangkul and Bront Palarae, who add depth and color to the story. Viewers can expect thrilling action sequences and a realistic retro atmosphere.
Prepare for the return of Thailand's most influential outlaw legend. Tee Yai: Born to be Bad takes you into a world of heists, chases, friendship, and sacrifice on November 13, only on Netflix.
