AMERICAN HOSTAGE (MGM+) - Kat Cunning will recur on the series as "the cosmopolitan and beautiful Ibby Hall, wife of Dick Hall (Kristoffer Polaha). Stuck in Indianapolis through a weird twist of fate, Ibby finds herself the center of attention that she neither desires nor wants to bow to when her husband is taken hostage and disparaged in front of the world." (Deadline.com, 10/13)
BEST MEDICINE (FOX) - Martin Clunes, who toplined the original British series ("Doc Martin"), will guest on the U.S. incarnation as the father of Martin Best (Josh Charles), Robert Best, "an accomplished, headstrong gastroenterologist whose abrasive demeanor makes Martin look practically cozy by comparison." (Deadline.com, 10/13)
CAPE FEAR/PARADISE (Apple TV/Hulu) - Patrick Fischler is slated to recur on both series. He'll play an undisclosed role on the former and "a brilliant professor trying to balance his work with a quietly challenging personal life" on the latter. (Deadline.com, 10/16)
COUNTESS OF MONTE CRISTO, THE (Netflix, New!) - Audrey Fleurot, Simon Ehrlacher, Zabou Breitman, Kad Merad, Thierry Godard, Éric Elmosnino, and Olivia Côte will topline a feminist reimaging of Alexandre Dumas's classic at the streamer: "Set in Marseille in 1815, the show stars Fleurot as Mercédès Herrera, a heroine ready to do anything for the man she loves, Edmond Dantès, a sailor with a bright future ahead of him. When he is imprisoned on the basis of false testimony, with no hope of release, the intrepid Mercédès tries to break him out of jail. Edmond is killed during their escape attempt and she herself finds herself imprisoned. Her new mission will be to take revenge on those who destroyed her life: Fernand, her own cousin, who is secretly in love with her; Danglars, an ambitious manipulator; and above all Héloïse de Villefort, the implacable wife of the town prosecutor." Filming has begun on the eight-part series with Djibril Glissant and Leonardo D'Antoni directing. Audrey Fleurot is co-producing for Bahia Blanca and Itinéraire Productions. (Deadline.com, 10/14)
DAVENPORTS, THE (Amazon) - Sonja Warfield and Susan Fales-Hill have been tapped to spearhead the streamer's Krystal Marquis adaptation. They'll executive produce alongside Leslie Morgenstein for Amazon MGM Studios, Warner Bros. Television and Alloy Entertainment. (Deadline.com, 10/14)
DEVIL IN DISGUISE: JOHN WAYNE GACY (Peacock) - The streamer is developing a second installment of the franchise "that would tell the story of [Richard] Ramirez, the serial killer, rapist and burglar who became known as the "Night Stalker" as he terrorized Los Angeles and Southern California between 1984 and 1985. Ramirez is believed to have killed at least 15 people; because his victims varied in age, gender and background, that made Ramirez's crimes extremely hard to predict. Ramirez was finally captured in August 1985 and ultimately convicted of all 43 charges for which he was charged; the killer died in prison in 2013 while serving on death row." Creator Patrick Macmanus is in talks to spearhead the proposed season. (Variety.com, 10/14)
DUTTON RANCH, THE (Paramount+) - The "Yellowstone" spin-off has added Marc Menchaca as Zachariah, "a newly released jailbird trying to rebuild his life as a wrangler and cowboy"; Natalie Alyn Lind as Oreana, "a striking young woman with a wild and free spirit"; JR Villarreal as Azul, "a whipcord wrangler and Rip's right-hand man"; and Juan Pablo Raba as Joaquin, "a worker at a major ranch who fixes problems, big or small." (Variety.com, 10/16)
EXTRACTION TV SERIES (Netflix) - The franchise's TV series has cast Sacha Dhawan, Ross McCall, Pip Torrens, Sam Woolf, Michael Zananiri, Riyad Sliman, Muhannad Ben Amor, Aaron Heffernan, Jojo Macari, Theo Ogundipe, and Emma Appleton in yet-to-be-revealed roles. (Deadline.com, 10/15)
FURIOUS (A.K.A. BLACK WIDOW) (Hulu) - Emmy nominee Jake Lacy will recur on the upcoming series as Marshall, "a charismatic and well-liked character who grew up with Alice, with whom he had a deep love and connection. Sober and motivated to get his life back on track, Marshall can't quite let go of his past with Alice." (Deadline.com, 10/17)
GRANVILLE GIRLS, THE (Netflix, New!) - The streamer has commissioned an eight-part series based on Cat Cahill's book series: "As the great railway sweeps across the Canadian Rockies, Emma Daniels becomes a 'Granville Girl,' one of a select few women hired to work at the Granville Hotel. The job offers adventure, friendship, and a chance to support her family - if she can resist the hotel's strictest rule: never fraternize with the men. But when Emma's heart is captured by the hotel's mysterious builder, she faces a choice that could cost her everything." Adriana Maggs is behind the project with Shaftesbury's Christina Jennings also executive producing. (Deadline.com, 10/16)
IDAHO MURDERS, THE (Lifetime, New!) - The cable channel has greenlit a new "Ripped from the Headlines" movie about the Idaho student murders with Miles Merry cast as Bryan Kohberger: "After four University of Idaho students are brutally murdered in their off-campus home, detectives race against time to identify the killer. The investigation eventually uncovers chilling clues that lead to Bryan Kohberger (Merry), a seemingly quiet criminology PhD student, as the only suspect." Steven A. Adelson will direct from a script by Michael Vickerman. Timothy O. Johnson, Stacy Mandelberg, and Michael Vickerman are the executive producers for PF Pine Productions and Studio TF1 America. She will play Cassie, "a woman with the unique ability to communicate with apparitions, who must uncover the cause of a newly discovered phenomenon that causes "visitors" (ghosts) to appear all over the world before it's too late." Brown, Etan Frankel, Rachel Brosnahan, Russell Kahn, Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Scott Nemes, Alessandra Maman, Jack Heller, and Caitlin de Lisser-Ellen are the executive producers for PCMA, Scrap Paper Pictures, AGBO, and Assemble Media.
