'The Boyfriend' Season 2 Sets January 13 Premiere as the Series Heads to Hokkaido
Netflix has announced the premiere date and released a first-look image for The Boyfriend Season 2, the long-awaited return of Japan's first male dating reality series. The new season begins streaming on January 13, 2026, with 15 episodes dropping over four consecutive weeks.
This season, the Green Room relocates to wintertime Hokkaido, where ten new boys will share a home for roughly two months against a backdrop of snowy landscapes. Like before, they will work together to operate the peppermint Coffee Truck, but the stories that unfold in the cold will take on a different flavor - carefully built connections, quiet moments, and love that grows slowly in the winter. Although cast details remain under wraps, a new first-look image has been released, showing the backs of all ten boys with their arms around each other, hinting at the bonds yet to begin.
The Boyfriend Season 2 continues to build on the series' core: honest conversations, tender relationships, and the moments in between where love and friendship blur. A winter they'll never forget is about to begin - and viewers around the world are invited once again into this warm, heartfelt journey.
Following its breakout debut in 2024, The Boyfriend captured hearts with its wholesome portrayal of romance, friendship, and self-discovery among nine young men living together in the Green Room, running a seaside coffee truck, and navigating their feelings in real-time. The overwhelmingly warm response to Season 1 paved the way for Season 2, hosted by the returning emcee lineup: MEGUMI, Chiaki Horan, Thelma Aoyama, Durian Lollobrigida, and Yoshimi Tokui.
Ten boys from different backgrounds will gather in Hokkaido to explore who they want to be, and what kind of boyfriend they hope to become. The Boyfriend Season 2 premieres on January 13, only on Netflix.
