Filmed across the North West for ITV, hit drama After the Flood returns to ITV and STV with streaming available on ITVX and STV Player, and BritBox in North America in 2026

Thursday, 11th December, London, UK: ITV and BritBox release first look pictures of the highly anticipated second season of After the Flood, starring Sophie Rundle as Jo Marshall (Gentleman Jack, Peaky Blinders), Olivier nominee Lorraine Ashbourne (Alma's Not Normal, Sherwood, Bridgerton) as Molly Marshall, Nicholas Gleaves (The Crown, The Rising) as Sergeant Phil Mackie, Philip Glenister (Belgravia, Life on Mars) as Jack Radcliffe and Matt Stokoe (The Hunt For Raoul Moat, The Bodyguard) returns as Jo's husband, Pat Holman. The six-part thriller is written, created and executive produced by BAFTA-nominated writer and actor Mick Ford and produced by Manchester-based Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios) for ITV and BritBox.

Alun Armstrong (Breeders, Sherwood) joins the cast as Alan Benson, alongside Jill Halfpenny (The Red King, The Long Shadow) as DS Sam Bradley, Ian Puleston-Davies (Pennyworth, Tin Star) as Tony Rower and Matthew McNulty (The Jetty, The Rising) is Xav Palmer. Also joining the cast is Anil Desai (The Night Manager S2, Sex Education) as DCI Balsara, Steph De Whalley (Doctor Who, Midnight Taxi) is Harriet Benson, Nathalie Armin (Showtrail S2, Maigret) plays Layal, Tony Marshall (Sister Boniface Mysteries, Casualty) as Fraser Tempest, Roger Morlidge (The Bank of Dave, Chemistry of Death) is Geoff Dixon, Oliver Nelson (The Gathering, Home Fires) as Declan Rower, Donna Rower is played by Jenny Platt (Versailles, Waterloo Road) and Lola Brown (a newcomer) is Izza.

Tripti Tripuraneni (House of the Dragon, Casualty) will be returning as PC Deepa Das, Heider Ali (You Don't Know Me) is DS Babak, Leo Flanagan (Gentleman Jack, Four Lives) is Finn, and Jacqueline Boatswain (Little Disasters, The Sandman) returns as Sarah Mackie.

Layered with intense drama, the first-look pictures offer a glimpse of the lead cast returning to their roles as they navigate the changing landscape of their town. We see the underlying tensions between the corrupt Sergeant Mackie and his former ally Jack Radcliffe, as well as a warm mother-daughter moment between Molly and Jo Marshall. The pictures also show the budding partnership between newcomer DS Sam Bradley and Jo Marshall as they investigate the mysterious murders taking place in Waterside.

The second series of After the Flood finds newly promoted detective Jo Marshall (Sophie Rundle) on the trail of a baffling new murder investigation. As tensions simmer in Waterside amid the rising threat of moorland fires and the subsequent risk of further flooding, a body is discovered in bizarre circumstances. Jo's race to stop the killer brings her into direct conflict with powerful and influential forces within the town, ultimately drawing her into an investigation that becomes deeply personal. One that will require her to operate in secret if she is to have any hope of rooting out the corruption that has blighted the town's police force - and her own family - for decades.

After the Flood is a 6 x 60 mins Quay Street Productions (part of ITV Studios) drama for ITV with BritBox International as co-production partner. Executive producers for Quay Street Productions are Nicola Shindler (Nolly, It's A Sin), Richard Fee (Fool Me Once, Missing You), Azhur Saleem and Sophie Rundle. Huw Kennair-Jones is Executive Producer for ITV, and Robert Schildhouse and Stephen Nye for BritBox International. After the Flood is produced by Quay Street Productions in association with ITV Studios, which also handles international distribution.

After the Flood series two is coming soon to ITV and STV, with streaming available on ITVX, STV Player, and BritBox in North America, Australia, and the Nordics. Catch up on series one on ITVX and STV Player now.
