FOX's "BEST MEDICINE" RENEWED FOR SEASON 2
FOX is pleased to confirm that our breakout hit series Best Medicine has been renewed for a 12-episode Season Two to debut in the 2026-2027 Season.
"Best Medicine quickly became a breakout for us this season, blending sharp humor with real heart," said Michael Thorn, President of FOX Television Network. "Liz Tuccillo brings a distinctive creative voice to the series, and Josh Charles leads an exceptional cast that audiences have embraced. We, along with Propogate, are excited to build on that momentum in Season Two."
The series premiere of Best Medicine delivered 12.6 million total multiplatform viewers, and the series ranks among broadcast's Top 2 highest-rated drama debuts this season among Adults 18-49, alongside its fellow FOX freshman series Memory of a Killer, starring Patrick Dempsey. Best Medicine currently stands as FOX's second largest 7-day total multiplatform audience of the season to date, averaging 6.0 million P2+ viewers across its first five episodes. About Best Medicine
The series centers on Dr. Martin Best (Josh Charles), a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child with his Aunt Sarah (Annie Potts). There, he encounters an eclectic group of townspeople, including schoolteacher Louisa Gavin (Abigail Spencer), Sheriff Mark Mylow (Josh Segarra) and his assistant Elaine Denton (Cree).
Martin's blunt, no-nonsense bedside manner quickly alienates the quirky locals, even though he is the only doctor they have. While he can expertly diagnose any medical mystery, he struggles with a debilitating new phobia and childhood trauma that make intimacy difficult. In a town defined by tenacity and heart, the very people Martin pushes away may ultimately be exactly what he needs.
Best Medicine airs Tuesdays (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, next day on Hulu.
An all-new episode airs Tuesday, March 3 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), in which BAFTA Award-winning actor Martin Clunes, the original star of the UK's Doc Martin, guest stars as Martin's (Josh Charles) father, Robert Best, joined by Judith Ivey as his wife, Vanessa. When Martin's parents make a surprise visit, he suspects his father may be hiding a serious health condition, forcing the two doctors to operate together while navigating long-simmering family tensions.
