IN PARTNERSHIP WITH FULWELL ENTERTAINMENT, THE SERIES EXAMINES
THE UNEXPECTED DISCOVERIES, INVENTIONS, AND BREAKTHROUGHS
THAT SHAPED THE MODERN WORLD
New York, NY - March 4, 2026 - The HISTORY Channel(TM) has greenlit the new nonfiction series "Extraordinary Origins with Ted Danson" (working title), hosted and executive produced by multi-award-winning actor Ted Danson ("Cheers," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "The Good Place," "A Man on the Inside") and produced by Fulwell Entertainment. The 10-episode series examines the stories behind some of history's most significant innovations, inventions, and discoveries that helped shape the modern world.
"I've always been curious about how things begin - how an idea takes shape and, over time, changes the way we live," said Ted Danson. "This series looks at the unexpected paths behind some of our most important inventions and the people whose persistence and imagination made them possible. I'm pleased to be working with The HISTORY Channel on a project that takes the time to explore those origins thoughtfully."
"Ted brings a natural curiosity and intelligence to this material, which makes him an ideal guide through these stories," said Eli Lehrer, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming for The HISTORY Channel. "This series offers a focused look at the origins of innovations that reshaped modern life, examining not just the breakthroughs themselves, but the circumstances and choices that set them in motion."
Throughout history, many transformative innovations have emerged from unlikely places - sparked by curiosity, necessity, accident, or persistence. The series traces the pivotal moments when ideas first took shape, from accidental discoveries like penicillin, superglue, and the microwave to world-changing inventions such as the printing press and the personal computer. Each episode uncovers the chain of events behind the breakthroughs that reshaped industry, culture, and the modern world.
"Extraordinary Origins with Ted Danson" (w.t.) is produced for The HISTORY Channel(TM) by Fulwell Entertainment. Ben Winston, Jamal Henderson and Paul Loban serve as executive producers for Fulwell Entertainment. Ted Danson serves as an executive producer.
