ÁLVARO MORTE AND PATRICK CRIADO STAR IN NINE QUEENS, THE NEW NETFLIX SERIES BASED ON THE ACCLAIMED ARGENTINIAN FILM
Madrid, April 27, 2026 - Netflix announced today the start of production of Nine Queens, the new fiction series starring Álvaro Morte (Money Heist, The Anatomy of a Moment) and Patrick Criado (Money Heist, Bitter Christmas), and adapts the iconic Argentine film NINE QUEENS, originally written and directed by Fabián Bielinsky and produced by Patagonik.
Nine Queens has begun its production in Madrid, the series is produced by LAZONA and created by Xosé Morais and Víctor Sierra, who also write it and are executive producers with Luis Ferrón, Gonzalo Salazar-Simpson, Guido Rud and Juan Pablo Galli. The project is directed by Álex Rodrigo and Jorge Saavedra and the film features cinematography by Andreu Adam and Víctor Benavides and production design by Juan Pedro de Gaspar. The cast also includes Aura Garrido (The Innocent), Jose Coronado (Rotten Legacy, Wrong Side of the Tracks), and Margarida Corceiro (Point Nemo), among others.
About Nine Queens
In 2012 Madrid, in the midst of an economic crisis, Marcos (Álvaro Morte), an unscrupulous veteran con artist, runs into Juan (Patrick Criado), a broke young man who can barely support his family. What starts as a 24-hour partnership to pull off small scams ends up becoming the heist of their lives: selling legendary counterfeit stamps, the Nine Queens, as genuine to a ruthless tycoon (Jose Coronado). Spanish adaptation of the iconic Argentinian film of the same name, the series portrays these two con artists as a reflection of a country where the line between victims and scammers is becoming increasingly blurred.
