Netflix Announces the Start of Filming for the Adaptation of Javier Castillo's Bestseller, 'The Whisper of Fire'
Inma Cuesta, Alejandro García, Iván Pellicer, Zoe Bonafonte and Alicia Armenteros star in this thriller set in Tenerife
Netflix has announced today the adaptation and start of production of The Whisper of Fire, a four-part limited series based on the novel of the same name by Spanish author Javier Castillo, published by Suma de Letras (Penguin Random House Grupo Editorial).
The cast of this dramatic thriller is led by Inma Cuesta (Berlin and the Lady with an Ermine, If It's Tuesday, It's Murder), Alejandro García (The Crystal Cuckoo, The Immortal), Iván Pellicer (Rotten Legacy, Querer), Zoe Bonafonte (Pray for Us, The 47) and Alicia Armenteros (La vida breve, The Crystal Cuckoo).
The miniseries tells the story of Laura, a young astrophysicist whose body is found in Teide National Park. Her twin brother, Mario, who has been battling cancer for a year, and Civil Guard Sergeant Candela Oramas each launch their own investigation to discover what happened that night. Between science and faith, reason and mystery, every answer opens up a new question: how many secrets was Laura hiding?
The Whisper of Fire marks the fourth adaptation of a Javier Castillo novel for Netflix, following The Snow Girl, The Soul Game and The Crystal Cuckoo. The cast also includes Guillermo Bedward (The Harvester, Perverso), Nico Romero (Rotten Legacy, Riot Police) and Jaime Zataraín (Intimacy, See You in Another Life), among others.
The limited series is directed by Laura Alvea and José Ortuño, from a screenplay by Jesús Mesas Silva and Javier Andrés Roig. Alberto Félez and Cristina Sutherland serve as executive producers for Atípica Producciones. Filming will take place across various locations in Tenerife and Madrid.
