Friday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Viewers, Shares Demo Crown with ABC

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/26/14):

NBC (5.353 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) was the most-watched network on Friday with its duo of "Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (4.855 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and a two-hour "Dateline NBC" (5.603 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2).

Sharing the demo crown however was ABC (4.780 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) and its lineup of "Last Man Standing" (4.789 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #5), "Cristela" (3.789 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6), "Shark Tank" (4.775 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3) and "20/20" (5.277 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1).

Next up was CBS (4.070 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #3) and its special "Now That's Funny! On Set with TV's Hottest Comedies: A Paley Center for Media Special" (3.561 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6) followed by repeats of "Mom" (3.217 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) and "Blue Bloods" (5.259 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.491 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) served up encores of "Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas" (2.360 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T6), "Bob's Burgers" (1.540 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T9) and "Glee" (1.031 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T13).

And finally, repeats of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.236 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T13), another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.171 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.4, #12) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.155 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T13) closed out the evening on The CW (1.179 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.3, 0.4 and 0.2 rating, respectively.

·In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 2.6/6 with an encore telecast; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.7/4 with an encore; and ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.7/4 with an encore.

·In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/1 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/2 with an encore.

·From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.1/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/1 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

·From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).

·At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/27/13):

CBS (5.204 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) was the most-watched network on Friday thanks to rebroadcasts of "Undercover Boss" (5.272 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.9, #6) and "Garth Brooks, Live from Las Vegas" (5.170 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4).

ABC (4.726 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) however split the demo crown with its second run lineup of "Last Man Standing" (4.250 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.8, #7), "The Neighbors" (3.026 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #8), "Shark Tank" (5.042 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.2, #1) and "20/20" (5.497 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2).

Next up was NBC (4.146 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3) and its mix of "Dateline NBC" (6.267 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T2), "What We Wasted Our Year On" (4.120 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T4) and "Grimm" (2.053 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.172 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #4) offered up repeats of "Bones" (2.871 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9), "Raising Hope" (1.557 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T9) and a second "Raising Hope" (1.388 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #12).

And finally, The CW (0.747 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the evening with a repeat of "The Carrie Diaries" (0.689 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13) alongside the series finale of "Nikita" (0.805 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T13). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Carrie" delivered a 0.2 rating at 8:00/7:00c and "Nikita" a 0.2 rating at 9:00/8:00c.
