Monday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Tops Holiday with "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular"

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (7/4/16):

NBC (6.175 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.3, #1) was the holiday champ on Monday with its annual presentation of the "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" (6.968 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.5, #1) followed by an encore of "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" (4.589 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2).

CBS (4.337 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) then was a distant second with repeats of "Mom" (3.816 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) and "2 Broke Girls" (3.610 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) followed by the "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" (4.649 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #3).

Next up was ABC (2.521 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #3) with an encore "The Bachelorette" (2.524 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T6) and a new "Mistresses" (2.516 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T6).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.755 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.4, #4) offered up a repeat "So You Think You Can Dance" (1.741 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T8) plus the season finale of "Houdini & Doyle" (1.769 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T8).

And finally, The CW (0.740 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) closed out the evening with repeats of "iHeartRadio Summer Pool Party" (0.638 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.814 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) and another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.872 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.7/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.3/2 with an encore; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.3/2 with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline," averaged a 0.9/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (0.9/3 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.7/2 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.3/2 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.1/1 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/2 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.1/1 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (7/6/15):

ABC (5.778 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #1) was the network to beat on Monday with originals from "The Bachelorette" (6.921 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1) and "The Whispers" (3.491 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5).

The silver then went to NBC (5.237 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.5, #2) with new episodes of "American Ninja Warrior" (6.176 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and "The Island" (3.359 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3).

Next up was FOX (3.361 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.0, #3) and its latest installment of "So You Think You Can Dance" (3.361 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T3).

Meanwhile, CBS (4.928 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #4) served up repeats of "2 Broke Girls" (4.560 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "Mike & Molly" (4.616 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5), "Scorpion" (4.409 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #9) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (5.786 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T5).

And finally, the season premiere of "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.797 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10), a relocated "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.482 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T10) and a new "Cedric's Barber Battle" (1.001 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #12) on The CW (1.519 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.5, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.4, 0.4 and a 0.2 rating, respectively.
