CBS's Places Second in Viewers and Key Demos in an Atypical Week of Primarily Rebroadcasts Against Four Nights of Primetime Football

CBS'S PLACES SECOND IN VIEWERS AND KEY DEMOS IN AN ATYPICAL WEEK OF PRIMARILY REBROADCASTS AGAINST FOUR NIGHTS OF PRIMETIME FOOTBALL

"CSI" Is the Week's Top Entertainment Program

First-Run Episodes of "Ghost Whisperer," "Close to Home" and "Numb3rs" Win Their Time Periods

In an atypical week dominated by rebroadcasts and four nights of primetime football on ABC, CBS placed second in viewers and key demographics, according to Nielsen ratings for the week ending Jan. 8, week 16 of the 2005-2006 television season.

For the week in viewers, CBS (13.14m) trailed ABC (19.10m) and topped NBC (9.24m) and FOX (6.05m). Season-to-date in viewers, CBS (12.94m) leads, followed by ABC (10.93m), NBC (9.09m) and FOX (7.79m).

For the week in households, CBS (8.6/13) was -28% behind ABC (12.0/19) and had a +41% advantage over NBC (6.1/09) and +126% lead over FOX (3.8/06). Season-to-date, CBS is first in households (8.4/14), outpacing ABC by +20% (7.0/11), NBC by +40% (6.0/10) and FOX by +68% (5.0/08).

For the week in key demographics, CBS was second in adults 25-54 (5.0/12) and adults 18-49 (4.0/10). Compared to the same week last year, CBS was up +9% in households, +11% in adults 25-54 and +8% in adults 18-49. Except for the football driven ABC, CBS was the only network to show year to year increases in these key measures. Season-to-date, CBS is first in adults 25-54 (4.9/12) and second in adults 18-49 (3.9/11), just -0.1 of a rating point of 100,000 adults 18-49 behind ABC.

� CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (16.7/25), viewers (27.23m), adults 25-54 (11.4/25), adults 18-49 (9.2/22) and adults 18-34 (6.5/18) in the 9PM time period.

� WITHOUT A TRACE was first in households (13.5/22), viewers (20.94m), adults 25-54 (8.0/19) and adults 18-49 (6.8/18). WITHOUT A TRACE beat "ER" by +47% in households (vs. 9.2/15), +10% in adults 18-49 (vs. 6.2/16) and +13% in adults 25-54 (vs. 7.1/17) and by almost 7m viewers (from 13.97m, +50%).

� GHOST WHISPERER won its time period in households (7.3/12), viewers (11.31m), adults 25-54 (4.4/12) and adults 18-49 (3.2/10). GHOST WHISPERER has won its time slot every week this season in households, viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 every week this season with a first run episode. .

� CLOSE TO HOME won its time period in households (7.5/12), viewers (11.47m), adults 25-54 (4.0/10) and adults 18-49 (2.9/08).

� NUMB3RS was first in its time period for the 15th consecutive airing in viewers (13.93m) and adults 25-54 (5.0/13), first for the 14th time in 15 airings in households (8.9/15) and first for the 13th time in 15 airings in adults 18-49 (3.7/11). NUMB3RS posted its second best households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 delivery (all behind the program's 1/28/05 time period premiere).

� 60 MINUTES (7:47-8:47PM) delivered an 11.6/18 with 17.50m viewers, 6.0/13 in adults 25-54 and 4.7/12 in adults 18-49. From 8:00-9:00PM, 60 MINUTES was first in households, second in viewers (-0.04m behind ABC), adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

� COLD CASE (8:47-9:47PM) posted a 10.3/15 with 15.95m viewers, 5.6/11 in adults 25-54 and 4.2/10 in adults 18-49. From 9:00-10:00PM, COLD CASE was second in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.
