Sunday Primetime (7:00-11:00 p.m.)

Although the Net faced CBS' overrun of the Masters Golf Tournament during the opening hour of prime, ABC won its eighth straight Sunday in the key Adult 18-49 sales demographic. In fact ABC (3.5/9) led the evening by wide margins, defeating second-place CBS by 30% (2.7/7), third-place Fox by 46% (2.4/6) and fourth-place NBC by 169% (1.3/3). ABC also qualified as the most-watched television network on Sunday (10.5 million).

In Total Viewers and Adults 18-49, ABC garnered its highest Sunday numbers in 6 weeks since 3/2/08.

On its first original airing in more than 3 months, ABC's "Desperate Housewives" returned as Sunday's No. 1 TV program in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49. In fact "Housewives" has ranked as Sunday's top-rated series on all 11 of its original telecast this season

"America's Funniest Home Videos" (7:00-8:00 p.m.)

Opposite CBS' Masters Tournament overrun, ABC's "America's Funniest Home Videos" took second place during the 7 o'clock hour in Total Viewers (7.8 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.4/7).

"Oprah's Big Give" (8:00-9:00 p.m.)

Building on its lead-in in its new 8 o'clock time period, ABC's "Oprah's Big Give" took second place in Total Viewers (8.9 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.9/8), while delivering the No. 1 position in the hour across each of the key women demographics: W18-34 (2.9/8-tie), W18-49 (3.7/10) and W25-54 (4.3/10).

"Desperate Housewives" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

The night's No. 1 TV show, ABC's "Desperate Housewives" dominated on its return to Sunday's 9 o'clock hour, in its first original telecast since early January (1/6/08). In its time period, "Housewives" beat out its nearest competitors by 7.2 million viewers (16.0 million vs. 8.8 million - CBS) and by 111% in Adults 18-49 (5.7/13 vs. 2.7/6 - Fox).

"Eli Stone" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

A special airing of ABC freshman "Eli Stone" won the 10 o'clock hour, beating second-place CBS by 12% in Total Viewers (9.2 million vs. 8.2 million) and by 21% in Adults 18-49 (2.9/7 vs. 2.4/6).

"Eli Stone" was up from its most recent telecast by 3.3 million viewers and by 61% in Adults 18-49 (5.9 million and 1.8/5 on 4/10/08), drawing the series' largest audience since its debut telecast in January and its highest Adult 18-49 rating since early February since 1/31/08 and 2/7/08, respectively.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating trends based on the Live + Same Day data stream may be somewhat distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped from over 15% at the same point in 2006, up to nearly 24% currently. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
