ROYAL PAINS Builds in its Second Week Unprecedented for a New Series on the Network

NEW YORK, NEW YORK June 16, 2009 USA was the top network in basic cable prime this week with huge leads in all key demos: P25-54 (1.49 million, +44% over #2 TNT), P18-49 (1.37 million, +44% over #2 TNT), P18-34 (568,000, +3% over #2 TBS), total viewers (3.35 million, +28% over #2 DSNY) and households (2.53 million, +38% over #2 DSNY). USA garnered the top household coverage rating in basic cable prime this week with a 2.57 (+0.69 over #2 DSNY). USA was the only network to deliver over 1 million in P18-49, 3 million total viewers or 2 million households in prime this week.

USA continues to out-deliver The CW, doubling the broadcaster's P18-49 (+144%), P25-54 (+164%), P18-34 (+91%) and total viewer (+168%) audiences. USA registered victories over "Big 4" broadcasters in 15 hours this week, thanks to original series BURN NOTICE, ROYAL PAINS, LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT and IN PLAIN SIGHT, WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW, and episodes of NCIS and HOUSE, the most popular acquired series on cable. Every one of USA's original hours placed in the week's top ten P25-54 telecasts, taking six (6) of these top slots.

In a rare feat for cable, and unprecedented for USA among scripted original programs, ROYAL PAINS grew in its second week, placing #1 to BURN NOTICEs #2 ranking in Thursday's prime among P25-54 (RP 2.60 million / BN 2.43 million), P18-49 (2.35 million / 2.17 million), P18-34 (958,000 / 878,000), total viewers (5.59 million / 5.24 million) and households (4.02 million / 3.88 million).

ROYAL PAINS and BURN NOTICE delivered more P18-49 than any new scripted broadcast show this week.

Among P18-49, ROYAL PAINS was the #1 scripted telecast on cable this week, while among this demo on Thursday it was the top scripted telecast on television, broadcast or cable. The show was also the week's top scripted original on cable for P18-34.

BURN NOTICE brought in more M18-49 and M18-34 viewers looking for scripted fare than anything on broadcast in Thursday's prime, as well as outperforming new episodes of NBC's The Listener among P18-49, P25-54, P18-34 and total viewers. The show also delivered more P18-34 than repeats of Bones on FOX or The Mentalist on CBS, and more total viewers than a new I'm a CelebrityGet Me Out of Here on NBC.

IN PLAIN SIGHT and LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT were the top telecasts in basic cable prime Sunday, delivering more P25-54 (IPS 1.93 million / CI 1.87 million), total viewers (4.27 million / 4.14 million) and households (3.31 million / 3.19 million) than any other show in the daypart.

This week's LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT delivered the highest numbers yet for the team of Detectives Nichols and Wheeler (Jeff Goldblum and Julianne Nicholson) among P25-54 and total viewers, beating CBS's new Million Dollar Password and Cold Case repeat among P18-49.

In addition to outperforming every program on CBS among P18-49 Sunday night, IN PLAIN SIGHT doubled the audience of timeperiod competitor Army Wives on Lifetime among M25-54 (848,000, +130%) and total male viewers (1.68 million, +109%), as well as enjoying a considerable advantage among M18-49 (668,000, +84%).

WWE MONDAY NIGHT RAW was the top P18-49 show in Monday night's prime with 2.63 million, ranking second only to the season premiere of The Closer on TNT among P25-54 (2.46 million), total viewers (5.46 million) and households (3.58 million). A new episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 on TLC at 9P was the only telecast to deliver more P18-34 than RAW (1.37 million).

The 2-hour episode of RAW delivered more M18-34 than any new entertainment telecast on broadcast this week. It delivered more M18-49, M25-54 or male total viewers than any new episode of broadcast fare in Monday's primetime, and was second only to ABC's The Bachelorette among P18-34 delivery.

NCIS and HOUSE continue to be the top acquired series on cable, delivering more P25-54 (1.47 million NCIS / 938,000 HOUSE) and households (2.80 million / 1.59 million) than any other acquired series in basic cable prime. NCIS was the top acquired among P18-49 (1.23 million) and total viewers (3.64 million), as well.
