CBS Places First in Viewers and Remains the Only Network to Increase Its Summer Audience

CBS PLACES FIRST IN VIEWERS AND REMAINS THE ONLY NETWORK TO INCREASE ITS SUMMER AUDIENCE

All Three Editions of "Big Brother 11" Post Week-to-Week Growth with Sunday Broadcast Hitting New Highs in Viewers and Key Demos

CBS placed first in viewers for the sixth time in seven weeks, first in adults 25-54 (tie) for the fourth time in five weeks and remains the only network to increase its summer audience (+1% compared to last summer), according to Nielsen live plus same day and most current ratings for the week ending Aug. 2, week 45 of the 2008-2009 television year.

CBS's scripted series continued their impressive summer performance as THE BIG BANG THEORY was the week's No. 1 scripted program in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, while NCIS remained the No. 1 drama in viewers for the sixth consecutive week.

All three weekly editions of BIG BROTHER 11 posted week-to-week increases in viewers and key demographics with the Sunday edition hitting season highs in key measures.

For the week in viewers: CBS (6.24m), NBC (5.07m), FOX (4.76m) and ABC (4.44m). Summer-to-date, CBS is first in viewers (6.91m), ahead of NBC (5.40m), FOX (5.21m) and ABC (4.86m).

For the week in households: CBS (4.1/08), NBC (3.2/06) and ABC and FOX (2.9/05, each). Summer-to-date, CBS is first (4.6/08), ahead of NBC (3.5/06), FOX (3.2/06) and ABC (3.1/06).

For the week in key demographics, CBS was tied for first in adults 25-54 (2.0/06, with FOX) and second in adults 18-49 (1.5/05). Summer-to-date, CBS is tied for first in adults 25-54 (with FOX).

BIG BROTHER 11 TUESDAY was second in households (3.8/06), viewers (6.07m), adults 25-54 (2.6/07) and adults 18-49 (2.1/06). Compared to last week, BIG BROTHER 11 TUESDAY was up +6% in households (from 3.6/06), +4% in adults 25-54 (from 2.5/07), +5% in adults 18-49 (from 2.0/06), +13% in adults 18-34 (1.7/06 from 1.5/05) and added +350,000 viewers (from 5.72m, +6%). ?

BIG BROTHER 11 THURSDAY was first in households (4.1/08), viewers (6.46m), adults 25-54 (2.6/09), adults 18-49 (2.1/08) and adults 18-34 (1.7/07) for the fourth consecutive week. Compared to last week, BIG BROTHER 11 THURSDAY was up +2% in households (from 4.0/08), +13% in adults 18-34 (from 1.5/06), even in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 and added +70,000 viewers (from 6.39m, +1%). ?

BIG BROTHER 11 SUNDAY was first in households (4.2/08), viewers (6.77m), adults 25-54 (2.7/08), adults 18-49 (2.2/07) and second in adults 18-34 (1.6/06). Compared to last week, BIG BROTHER 11 SUNDAY was up +14% in households (from 3.7/07), +8% in adults 25-54 (from 2.5/07), +10% in adults 18-49 (from 2.0/07), even in adults 18-34 and added +690,000 viewers (from 6.08m, +11%). ?

TWO AND A HALF MEN (R) was second in households (5.7/09), viewers (9.07m), adults 25-54 (3.6/09) and adults 18-49 (2.7/08). ?

THE BIG BANG THEORY (R) was second in households (5.2/08), viewers (8.48m), adults 25-54 (3.7/09) and adults 18-49 (2.8/08). THE BIG BANG THEORY built on its lead-in in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54. ?
