September 15, 2009 (Burbank, CA) � GOSSIP GIRL continues to grow, as The CW's addictive drama opened its third season by outperforming its year ago season debut in the network's target demo of women 18-34 (3.4/9 v. 3.3/10), according to Live Plus Same Day Nielsen ratings for Monday, Sept. 14, 2009.

Moving to a later hour this season, GOSSIP GIRL delivered strong demos in its new 9pm time period, scoring the show's best women 18-34 (3.4/9), adults 18-34 (2.0/5) and women 18-49 (2.2/5) since Dec. 2008. GOSSIP GIRL also posted its largest audience (2.6mil) since Jan 2009.

Competitively, GOSSIP GIRL won the 9pm time period among women 18-34 and women 12-34 (3.0/8). GOSSIP GIRL also ranked second in the hour among adults 18-34 (2.0/5). Paired with ONE TREE HILL, The CW's signature Monday finished first from 8-10p.m. with its core audience of women 18-34 (2.9/8), females 12-34 (2.6/8) and female teens (1.8/6-tie). The CW also ranked second from 8-10p.m. with adults 18-34 (1.8/5).

Both GOSSIP GIRL and seventh season drama ONE TREE HILL returned last night at or above their ratings performance from May. The GOSSIP GIRL faithful returned in force, as the show improved dramatically compared to May 2008, building 31% in women 18-34 and 33% in adults 18-34. ONE TREE HILL returned just as strong as it finished season 6, virtually on par with its May ratings in women 18-34 (2.4/7), adults 18-34 (1.6/5), adults 18-49 (1.2/3).
