Fifth Season of Syfy's Ghost Hunters Becomes Channel's Most Watched Original Series Ever

FIFTH SEASON OF SYFY'S GHOST HUNTERS BECOMES CHANNEL'S MOST WATCHED ORIGINAL SERIES EVER IN ADULTS 18-34, ADULTS 18-49, WOMEN 18-49 AND WOMEN 25-54

SETS NEW BENCHMARK IN TOTAL VIEWERS, ADULTS 18-34, ADULTS 18-49 AND ADULTS 25-54

New York, NY -- December 17, 2009 -- Continuing Syfy's blistering ratings roll, the fifth season of Ghost Hunters, the #1 paranormal investigative series on television, became the best season ever for any Syfy original series in Adults 18-34, Adults 18-49, Women 18-49 and Women 25-54.

Ghost Hunters also shattered the franchise record in total viewers (2.97 million), Adults 18-34 (825,000) Adults 18-49 (1.83 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.91 million), along with a 2.1 HH rating.

Compared to season four, this represented increases of +5% in HH rating, +6% in total viewers, +10% in Adults 18-34, +6% in Adults 18-49, +7% in Adults 25-54 and +15% in Women 18-34.

For the year, Syfy is the #1 cable network in the Ghost Hunters Wednesday 9PM (ET/PT) timeslot for Adults18-34, Adults18-49, Adults 25-54, Men 25-54, Women18-49 and Women 25-54.

The fifth season ended with a bone-chilling howl as the Wednesday, December 16 finale at 9PM (ET/PT) uncovered a 1.8 HH rating, 2.54 million total viewers, 1.59 million Adults 25-54 and 1.49 million Adults18-49.

The season finale was the #2 cable program for the day in both Adults18-49 and Adults 25-54 viewers. This performance sent Syfy to the #2 spot among Adults 25-54 in 8-11PM prime versus all basic cable entertainment networks.

Season 5 of Ghost Hunters set all-time Syfy marks with :

7 of the top 10 Adult 18-34 series telecasts in network history

6 of the top 10 Adult 18-49 series telecasts in network history

8 of the top 10 Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 series telecasts in network history

Ghost Hunters Academy, the latest spin-off of the popular franchise, concluded its first season at 10PM (ET/PT), averaging a 1.3 HH Rating, 1.86 million total viewers, 1.15 million Adults 25-54 and 1.08 million Adults18-49 during its six-episode season, which premiered November 11.
