THE FINAL REGULAR-SEASON 'SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL' GAME IS UP 13 PERCENT IN 18-49 AND 10 PERCENT IN TOTAL VIEWERS VERSUS LAST YEAR'S FINAL REGULAR-SEASON TELECAST

ON WEDNESDAY, A 'JAY LENO SHOW' ENCORE TOPS A FIRST-RUN DRAMA ON A COMPETING NETWORK IN ADULTS 18-49, TOTAL VIEWERS AND ALL OTHER KEY MEASURES

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - January 5, 2010 - Led by "NBC Sunday Night Football," which was the #1 primetime program of the week in adults 18-49, total viewers and other key measures, NBC averaged a 1.7 rating, 5 share in 18-49 and 5.1 million viewers overall for the week of December 28-January 3, according to in-home viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. For the week, NBC ranked #2 among the major networks in all key adult-male demographics - men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54.

NBC's "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Cincinnati Bengals at the New York Jets was the #1 primetime program of the week in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demographics - men 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54. This marks the 16th telecast in a row of "NBC Sunday Night Football" to top the weekly primetime adult 18-49 rankings (excluding NFL pre- and post-game shows, and including a tie with the Thursday NFL season opener).

With an average 16.3 million viewers, "Sunday Night Football" also ranked #1 among all primetime programs this week in total viewers.

Primetime averages for the week of December 28-January 3 in adults 18-49 were Fox (2.6/7), ABC (2.0/6), CBS (1.8/5), NBC (1.7/5) and CW (0.4/1). In overall total viewers the weekly averages were CBS (8.3 million), Fox (7.3 million), ABC (6.4 million), NBC (5.1 million) and CW (0.9 million).

NBC highlights for the week of December 28-January 3:

* On Sunday, NBC Sports' "Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Cincinnati Bengals at the New York Jets led NBC to a primetime victory in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demographics, as well as total viewers.

* Sunday's Bengals-Jets game was up 13 percent in 18-49 rating and 10 percent or 1.5 million persons in total viewers versus the final regular-season "Sunday Night Football" game last year (Broncos-Chargers on December 28, 2008).

* On Friday, an encore telecast of "The Jay Leno Show" topped a rebroadcast of CBS's drama "Numb3rs" in adults 18-49 and other key demographic measures.

* On Wednesday, a two-hour block of encore telecasts of "The Office" ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults and men 18-34.

* Also on Wednesday, a rebroadcast of "The Jay Leno Show" ranked #2 among the major networks in its slot in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key measures, topping a first-run telecast of ABC's "Eastwick." This marked the fourth time in six weeks that the Wednesday edition of "The Jay Leno Show" has ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and the fifth time in six Wednesdays that "Leno" has ranked #2 in total viewers.

* Wednesday's "Leno Show" rebroadcast matched or topped the results on the same night in both 18-49 and total viewers for encore telecasts of Fox's "Glee" and ABC's "The Middle" and "Cougar Town."

Ratings reflect "live plus same day" data unless otherwise noted. Season-to-date figures are averages of "live plus seven day" data except for the two most recent weeks, which are "live plus same day."

On Monday, December 28 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Community" averaged a 1.1 rating, 3 share in adults 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall. Additional back-to-back rebroadcasts of "Community" averaged a 1.0/3 in 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers overall from 8:30-9 p.m., a 0.9/2 in 18-49 and 2.0 million viewers overall from 9-9:31 p.m. and a 0.9/2 in 18-49 and 2.0 million viewers overall from 9:31-10:01 p.m.

Monday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 0.9/3 in adults 18-49, a 1.1/3 in adults 25-54 and 3.2 million viewers overall. Monday's time-period competition included CBS's "CSI: Miami" encore and ABC's telecast of the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End."

Comparisons with Jay Leno's 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" are: in adults 18-49 (0.9 vs. 1.4), adults 25-54 (1.1 vs. 1.8) and total viewers (3.2 million vs. 5.1 million). Comparisons to NBC's Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the prior 52 weeks were: in adults 18-49 (0.9 vs. 2.2), adults 25-54 (1.1 vs. 2.7) and total viewers (3.2 million vs. 6.9 million).

On Tuesday, December 29 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Parks and Recreation" averaged a 0.9/3 in adults 18-49 and 3.2 million viewers overall. Additional back-to-back rebroadcasts of "Parks and Recreation" averaged a 0.8/2 in 18-49 and 2.7 million viewers overall from 8:30-9 p.m., a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall from 9-9:31 p.m. and a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.6 million viewers overall from 9:31-10:01 p.m.

Tuesday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 0.9/3 in adults 18-49, a 1.1/3 in adults 25-54 and 3.0 million viewers overall. Tuesday's time-period competition included CBS's telecast of "The Kennedy Center Honors" and ABC's special edition of "20/20."

Additional back-to-back rebroadcasts of "The Office" averaged a 1.4/5 in 18-49 and 3.3 million viewers overall from 8:30-9 p.m., a 1.4/4 in 18-49 and 3.1 million viewers overall from 9-9:31 p.m. and a 1.6/5 in 18-49 and 3.5 million viewers overall from 9:31-10:01 p.m.

For its entire 8-10 p.m. ET block, "The Office" encores ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and #1 in adults and men 18-34.

Wednesday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.3/4 in adults 18-49, a 1.6/4 in adults 25-54 and 4.4 million viewers overall. Wednesday's time-period competition included CBS's "CSI: NY" encore and ABC's first-run telecast of "Eastwick." In the time period, "Jay Leno" ranked #2 among the major networks in all key ratings categories - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49, 25-54, plus total viewers -- topping "Eastwick."

This marked the fourth time in six weeks that the Wednesday edition of "The Jay Leno Show" has ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and 25-54 and the fifth time in six Wednesdays that "Leno" has ranked #2 in total viewers.

The 1.3 adults 18-49 rating for the "Jay Leno" rebroadcast matched or topped the results for Wednesday's encore telecasts of Fox's "Glee" (a 1.1 at 8 p.m. and a 1.3 at 9 p.m.), ABC's "The Middle" (1.2) and "Cougar Town" (1.3). The 4.4 million total viewers for the "Leno" rebroadcast also tops the Wednesday results for the encore episodes of Fox's "Glee" (3.4 million at 8 p.m., 3.6 million at 9 p.m.) and ABC's "The Middle" (4.2 million) and "Cougar Town" (3.8 million).

Comparisons to Jay Leno's 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" were: in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 1.4), adults 25-54 (1.6 vs. 1.8) and total viewers (4.4 million vs. 5.1 million). Comparisons to NBC's Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the prior 52 weeks were: in adults 18-49 (1.3 vs. 2.2), adults 25-54 (1.6 vs. 2.7) and total viewers (4.4 million vs. 6.9 million).

NBC ranked #2 among the major networks Wednesday night in adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 and was #1 in adults and men 18-34.

On Thursday, December 31 from 8-8:30 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "30 Rock" averaged a 1.0/4 in adults 18-49 and 3.4 million viewers overall. Additional back-to-back rebroadcasts of "30 Rock" averaged a 1.0/4 in 18-49 and 2.9 million viewers overall from 8:30-9 p.m., a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.5 million viewers overall from 9-9:31 p.m. and a 0.9/3 in 18-49 and 2.4 million viewers overall from 9:31-10 p.m.

For its entire 8-10 p.m. ET block, the "30 Rock" rebroadcasts ranked #2 outright among the major networks in adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demos.

Thursday from 10-11 p.m. ET, the primetime portion of NBC's "New Year's Eve With Carson Daly"(1.2/4 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the major networks in adults, men and women 18-34. From its first to its second half-hour, the special increased by 9 percent in adults 18-49 (to a 1.2 from a 1.1), by 17 percent in women 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.2) and by 20 percent in adults 18-34 (1.2 vs. 1.0).

NBC ranked #2 among the major networks Thursday night in adults, men and women 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54 (tied).

On Friday, January 1 from 8-10:01 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "The Biggest Loser" (0.9/3 in adults 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall) increased 25 percent in 18-49 rating from its first to its fourth half-hour (1.0 vs. 0.8).

Friday from 10:01-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "The Jay Leno Show" averaged a 1.0/3 in adults 18-49, a 1.2/3 in adults 25-54 and 3.3 million viewers overall. Friday's time-period competition included ABC's "20/20," Fox's telecast of the Sugar Bowl and CBS's encore telecast of "Numb3rs." In the time period, the "Leno" rebroadcast topped the "Numb3rs" encore in adults 18-49, adults, men and women 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54.

The "Jay Leno Show" encore increased from its first half-hour to its second by 22 percent in adults 18-49 (1.1 vs. 0.9), 33 percent in adults 18-34 (0.8 vs. 0.6), 67 percent in women 18-34 (1.0 vs. 0.6) and 23 percent in total viewers (3.7 million vs. 3.0 million).

Comparisons to Jay Leno's 2008-09 average at 11:35 p.m. ET on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" were: in adults 18-49 (1.0 vs. 1.4), in adults 25-54 (1.2 vs. 1.8) and total viewers (3.3 million vs. 5.1 million). Comparisons to NBC's Monday-through-Friday 10-11 p.m. ET non-sports average over the prior 52 weeks were: in adults 18-49 (1.0 vs. 2.2), adults 25-54 (1.2 vs. 2.7) and total viewers (3.3 million vs. 6.9 million).

On Saturday, January 2 from 8-9 p.m. ET, a rebroadcast of "Mercy" averaged a 0.5/2 in 18-49 and 2.5 million viewers overall. From 9-10 p.m., an encore telecast of "Law & Order" (0.9/3 in 18-49, 4.4 million viewers overall) built on its lead-in from the previous hour by 80 percent in 18-49 rating and 77 percent in total viewers.

Saturday at 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 5.1 million viewers overall) ranked #2 among the major networks in adults 18-49 and total viewers and #1 or tied for #1 in adults, men and women 18-34 and men 18-49. "SVU" built on its lead-in from the previous hour by 56 percent in adults 18-49.

On Sunday, January 3, the "NBC Sunday Night Football" telecast of the Cincinnati Bengals at the New York Jets led NBC to a Sunday primetime win in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demographics, as well as total viewers. For its full duration, the Bengals-Jets game averaged a 6.1/15 in adults 18-49, 16.3 million viewers overall and a 10.0/16 household rating/share from 8:31-11:13 p.m. ET.

Sunday's Bengals-Jets game was up 13 percent in 18-49 rating and 10 percent or 1.5 million persons in total viewers versus the final regular-season "Sunday Night Football" game last year (a 5.4/15 in 18-49 and 14.8 million viewers overall for the Broncos-Chargers on December 28, 2008).

For the night (from 7:30-11 p.m. ET), NBC averaged a 5.4/13 in adults 18-49 and 14.5 million viewers overall. NBC's margin of victory over the #2 network was 23 percent in adults 18-49 (5.4/13 for NBC from 7:30-11 p.m. vs. a 4.4/11 for Fox from 7-10 p.m.) and 22 percent in total viewers (14.5 million for NBC from 7:30-11 p.m. vs. 11.8 million for ABC from 7-11 p.m.).

Also on Sunday, "Football Night in America 2" from 7:30-7:55 p.m. ET averaged a 2.1/6 in 18-49, 5.8 million viewers overall and a 3.4/5 household rating/share. "Football Night in America 3" from 7:55-8:22 p.m. delivered a 3.7/9 in 18-49, 10.1 million viewers overall and a 5.9/9 in households. From 8:22-8:31 p.m. "NBC Sunday Night Football Pre Kickoff" averaged a 5.1/13 in 18-49, 14.2 million viewers overall and an 8.3/13 in households. Note: "Football Night in America" from 7-7:30 p.m. ET was sustaining programming and does not figure in the nightly or weekly primetime averages.
