JAY TOPS HIS ABC AND CBS TIME-PERIOD COMPETITION IN VIEWERS 18-49 AND TOTAL VIEWERS

SEASON TO DATE, JAY AND JIMMY INCREASE THEIR TOTAL-VIEWER MARGINS VS. LAST YEAR

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - January 12, 2012 - NBC's late-night lineup has earned #1 finishes in viewers 18-49 and total viewers for the week of January 2-6 over the ABC and CBS time-period competition. Note that Monday telecasts were excluded from the week's averages due to the New Year's holiday.

For the week, NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" tied with 0.8 ratings each, while in viewers 18-49, "Tonight" prevailed by a 1 percent margin (with 1.041 million adults 18-49 vs. 1.028 million). At 12:35 a.m. ET for the week, NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" delivered bigger audiences than CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" in all key ratings categories: adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers.

Through the first 16 weeks of the season, "Tonight" has increased its total-viewer margin over "Late Show" to 13 percent (3.737 million vs. 3.308 million), up from the year-ago season-to-date advantage of 8 percent. Jimmy Fallon has established a total-viewer lead over "Late Late Show" this season of 16 percent (1.802 million vs. 1.559 million), after trailing by 1 percent one year ago. Jimmy has also increased his season-to-date lead over "Late Late Show" in adults 18-34, to 47 percent (301,000 vs. 205,000) up from last year's 27 percent, and in adults 25-54, up to 10 percent (884,000 vs. 804,000) up from 3 percent at this point last season.
