"Macy's Fireworks" Is #1 and #2 Show of the Night, With the Encore Winning the 10 p.m. Hour in 18-49
NBC spins the numbers for Wednesday, July 4.

Wednesday Results:

· NBC is #1 for the night on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49 and total viewers, with "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" ranking #1 and #2 for the night on those nets in 18-49 with time-period wins for both the 9 p.m. original and the 10 p.m. encore.

· At 9 p.m. ET, "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" (1.7/7 in 18-49, 7.8 million viewers overall) displayed the night's #1 results in 18-49 and total viewers. In the 9 p.m. hour, "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" ranked #1 among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key ratings categories. This year's Wednesday telecast finished within 0.4 of a point of last year's 2.1 in 18-49 for Monday coverage and within 845,000 persons of last year's 8.7 million overall viewership.

· This is the second-highest 18-49 rating for the "Macy's 4th of July" special in five years (since 2007) and second-biggest overall audience in six years (since 2006), behind only the 2011 figures over those spans.

· From its first half-hour to its second, the "Macy's" special grew by 62% in 18-49 rating (to a 2.1 from a 1.3) and by 65% or 3.9 million persons in total viewers (9.8 million vs. 5.9 million).

· At 10 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" (1.4/5 in 18-49, 5.4 million viewers overall) ranked #1 among ABC, CBS and NBC in adults 18-49 ahead of CBS's original "Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular" (with a 1.4 rating vs. a 0.8) )and ABC's original "Final Witness" (1.4 vs. 0.7). The "Macy's" rebroadcast also ranked #1 for the hour among those networks in all other key demographics. The 10 p.m. "Macy's" encore trails only the 9 p.m. original among the night's primetime telecasts on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49.

· Pending updates, the 10 p.m. encore is up versus last year (1.3/5 in 18-49, 4.967 million viewers overall) by 8 percent in 18-49 rating and 9 percent in total viewers.

· In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, the "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular" "encore delivered a 46 percent margin of victory among ABC, CBS and NBC in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 1.9 rating vs. a 1.3 for CBS's original fireworks special). The "Macy's" encore led the 10:30 half-hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in all other key demos.

· At 8 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of "Betty White's Off Their Rockers" (1.0/4 in 18-49, 4.2 million viewers overall) finished #1 in the time period among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, total viewers and other key measures.

· At 8:30 ET, a rebroadcast of "Up All Night" (0.6/3 in 18-49, 2.3 million viewers overall) is currently tied for #1 in the half-hour among ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox in 18-49.

· NBC is #1 for the night among ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW in adults 18-49, total viewers and all other key categories.

· Note that some local market 4th of July preemptions on all networks were included in these preliminary fast-affiliate ratings but will be excluded from official national ratings.

In Late-Night Metered Markets Wednesday night:

· In Nielsen's 56 metered markets, household results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 2.3/6 with an encore telecast; CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman," 1.8/5 with an encore; and ABC's combo of "Nightline," 2.7/7; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 1.2/4 with an encore.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," 0.6/4 with an encore; "Late Show," 0.4/2 with an encore; "Nightline," 0.8/3; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.4/2 with an encore.

· At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.1/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.3/2 with an encore).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
