SATURDAY's "48 HOURS MYSTERY: THE KILLING FIELDS" WAS #1 AT 10:00 PM IN HOUSEHOLDS, VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54

CBS News' 48 HOURS MYSTERY: "The Killing Fields" (R) (10:00-11:00 PM) was first in households (3.1/06), viewers (4.49m) and adults 25-54 (1.4/04), according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for July 7.

Saturday's telecast featured Erin Moriarty's updated report called "The Killing Fields," which looked at a string of more than 30 women and young girls who have either vanished or been murdered along a strip of land between Houston and Galveston, Texas since 1970. Moriarty has been covering the story for more than 15 years, and in this updated broadcast she looked at three of the victims whose stories were fictionalized for a 2011 Hollywood feature film. Just months after the film wrapped, police got a break in the case of Krystal Baker, who has a family linage to Marilyn Monroe. Kevin Edison Smith - picked up on a drug charge in Louisiana - was matched to Baker's murder through DNA testing. In April, 16 years after Baker's death, Smith was tried and convicted of her murder. Police are investigating if Smith has any links to other crimes in the killing fields.

This telecast was produced by Lourdes Aguiar, Alec Sirkin, Jenna Jackson and Chris O'Connell. Richard Barber was the producer-editor. Editors were Maria Barrow, Ken Blum, Chris Crater, David Franklin and Bruce Spiegel. Linda Martin was the update producer. Jud Johnston was the update editor. Anthony Batson was the senior producer. Al Briganti is the executive editor. Susan Zirinsky is the senior executive producer.
