Emmy(R)-Winning Animated Comedy Delivers Most Viewers Ages 2+ in its History

Fresh from its recent Primetime Emmy(R) win for "Outstanding Short-Format Animated Program," Cartoon Network's original series Regular Show returned Monday night, Oct. 1 (8 p.m.) with its fourth season, scoring its best performance in its history, ranking as the #1 telecast of the day among all targeted kids and boys ages 2-11, 6-11 and 9-14, according to Nielsen Media Research. The hit animated comedy from first-time show creator JG Quintel earned significant ratings and delivery growth, ranging between 2% and 31%, vs. the same time period last year. Additionally, Regular Show attracted more than three million viewers 2+, up a remarkable 37% vs. the same time period last year.

Looking at its broadest audience, the fourth season premiere of Regular Show out-delivered total viewers 2+ vs. its previous season premieres by double digits - season one (Sept. 6, 2010) by 41%, season two (Nov. 29, 2010) by 25% and season three (Sept. 19, 2011) by 16%.

Created by JG Quintel and produced by Cartoon Network Studios, Regular Show features Mordecai and Rigby, two groundskeepers at a park whose attempts to escape their everyday boredom take them to fantastical extremes. The job is so deadly dull that the two friends will do anything they can to avoid it. This doesn't go over well with their boss Benson (an anthropomorphic gumball machine) - but their efforts often result in insane escapades that delight Pops, a humanoid-looking lollipop, who has spent his entire life there.

Since its debut in September 2010, Regular Show has become a global sensation. In addition to the series recently winning the 2012 Primetime Emmy Award, it also won the 2012 Ottawa International Animation Festival Award for Best Television Animation for Children, and has been nominated for a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Award for Best Television Series (Kids), several ASIFA-Hollywood Annie Awards and a Cynopsis: Kids !magination Award.
