ABC's "The Lookout" Grows Against the Stanley Cup Finals

Despite facing the high-rated Stanley Cup Finals (Chicago Blackhawks-Boston Bruins Game 1) during Wednesday's 10 o'clock hour, ABC's The Lookout grew week to week in Total Viewers (+3%) and Adults 25-54 (+7%), while retaining its Adult 18-49 audience for its 3rd straight telecast.

· For the 3rd week in a row, ABC's freshman news program outdelivered its mid-week CBS freshman 10 o'clock news competition on Tuesday (Brooklyn DA), leading by its biggest margins yet with Adults 18-49 (+83%) and Adults 25-54 (+67%). ABC's The Lookout also drew 8% more viewers than CBS' Brooklyn DA.

"ABC's The Lookout" (10:00-11:00 p.m.)

Despite facing the high-rated NHL Stanley Cup Finals (Chicago Blackhawks-Boston Bruins Game 1) during Wednesday's 10 o'clock hour, "ABC's The Lookout" grew week to week in Total Viewers (+3% - 3.9 million vs. 3.8 million) and Adults 25-54 (+7% - 1.5/4 vs. 1.4/4), while maintaining its Adult 18-49 audience (1.1/3) for its 3rd straight telecast.

· For the 3rd week in a row, ABC's freshman news program outdelivered its mid-week CBS freshman 10 o'clock news competition on Tuesday ("Brooklyn DA"), leading by its biggest margins yet with Adults 18-49 (+83% - 1.1/3 vs. 0.6/2) and Adults 25-54 (+67% - 1.5/4 vs. 0.9/2). "ABC's The Lookout" also drew 8% more viewers than CBS' "Brooklyn DA" (3.9 million vs. 3.6 million).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 44% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
