ABC's "Extreme Weight Loss" Draws Its Biggest Audience in 14 Weeks and Finishes Up Season to Season

From 8-10pm, ABC's season finale of Extreme Weight Loss drew the series' biggest audience since it season premiere 14 weeks ago (on 5/28/13) and tied its 2nd highest Adult 18-49 rating this year. The ABC unscripted series was up 11% from its year-ago finale (on 8/19/12) in Total Viewers and held even in Adults 18-49. On average, Extreme Weight Loss finished out its season up year to year in both Total Viewers (+11%) and Adults 18-49 (+8%).

On Average, "Extreme Weight Loss" is Up Season to Season By 11% in Total Viewers and 8% in Adults 18-49

"Extreme Weight Loss" (8:00-10:00 p.m.)

From 8:00-10:00 p.m., ABC's season finale of "Extreme Weight Loss" (4.0 million and 1.2/4) drew the series' biggest audience since its season premiere 14 weeks ago (on 5/28/13) and tied its 2nd highest Adult 18-49 rating this year.

· The ABC unscripted series was up 11% from its year-ago finale in Total Viewers and held even in Adults 18-49 (3.6 million and 1.2/3 on 8/19/12).

· On average, "Extreme Weight Loss" finished out its season with year-to-year growth in both Total Viewers (+11% - 4.0 million vs. 3.6 million) and Adults 18-49 (+8% - 1.3/4 vs. 1.2/3).

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 45% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
