ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Hits New Multi-Month Highs for the 3rd Week in a Row

During the week of October 7, 2013, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live grew for the 2nd consecutive week of the new season in Total Viewers (+12%) and Adults 18-49 (+7%) to draw its biggest overall audience in 6 months and score its best young adult number in 4 months - since the weeks of 4/15/13 and 6/17/13, respectively. In fact, excluding the NBA finals weeks in June, JKL delivered its best Adult 18-49 performance since its first week at 11:35pm in January - since the week of 1/7/13. For the 2nd week in a row, JKL was up week to week in Adults 18-49 (+7%), while both NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno (-4%) and CBS' The Late Show with David Letterman (-4%) were both down from the prior week.

JKL has posted enormous double-digit gains over the year-ago week in all 3 weeks of the new season to date in Total Viewers (+63%) and Adults 18-49 (+74%).

· ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live ranked as the #2 talk show in late-night in Adults 18-49.

· ABC's JKL increased its advantage over CBS' Letterman in Adults 18-49 for the 2nd straight week, beating the CBS late-night talk show by its largest margin of the season yet (+36% vs. +22% for the prior week vs. +9% during premiere week). In addition, JKL nearly tied Letterman in Total Viewers, as just 37k viewers separated the two programs.

· JKL claimed 2 of the 3 highest-rated telecasts in late-night during the week among Adults 18-49, with its Wednesday (10/9/13) and Thursday (10/10/13) shows. Featuring Kanye West on Wednesday, ABC's JKL dominated CBS' Letterman by 70% among Adults 18-49 and NBC's Leno by 43%. JKL ranked #1 in its time periods in each of the Top 10 U.S. Markets on Wednesday in the young adult demo. On Thursday, JKL beat Letterman by 50% among Adults 18-49 and NBC's Leno by 31%.

With its late-night lineup of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" at 11:35 p.m. and "Nightline" at 12:35 a.m. during the third week of the new season (week of October 7, 2013), ABC was up week to week in late-night for the 2nd straight week with Total Viewers (+11% - 2.428 million vs. 2.183 million) and Adults 18-49 (+7% - 872,000 vs. 813,000) to attract its biggest audience since April and deliver its best performance among young adults since June - since the weeks of 4/15/13 and 6/17/13, respectively. In fact, ABC has been the only broadcaster to grow its numbers over the prior week in late-night in each week of the new season in either Total Viewers or Adults 18-49.

ABC was up over the year-ago week (2.205 million and 673,000 on w/o 10/8/12) by 10% in Total Viewers and by 30% in Adults 18-49, marking its 3rd straight week of year-over-year growth in the key young adult demo.

· For the 2nd week in a row, ABC ranked as the week's No. 1 broadcaster in late-night in Adults 18-49 (872,000), widening its advantages over NBC to 10% (795,000) and CBS to 46% (599,000).

· ABC was also the most-watched network in late-night (2.428 million), outdrawing NBC by 10% (2.203 million) and CBS by 17% in Adults 18-49 (2.084 million).

During the week of October 7, 2013, ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" grew for the 2nd consecutive week of the new season in Total Viewers (+12% - 2.780 million vs. 2.480 million) and Adults 18-49 (+7% - 1.008 million vs. 946,000) to draw its biggest overall audience in nearly 6 months and post its best young adult number in almost 4 months - since the weeks of 4/15/13 and 6/17/13, respectively. In fact, excluding the NBA finals weeks in June, "JKL" delivered its best Adult 18-49 performance since its first week at 11:35 p.m. in January - since the week of 1/7/13. For the 2nd week in a row, "JKL" was up week to week in Adults 18-49 (+7%), while both NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (-4% - 1.081 million vs. 1.131 million) and CBS' "The Late Show with David Letterman" (-4% - 743,000 vs. 777,000) were both down.

"JKL" has posted enormous double-digit gains over the year-ago week (1.710 million and 580,000 on w/o 10/8/12) in all 3 weeks of the new season to date in Total Viewers (+63%) and Adults 18-49 (+74%).

· ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" ranked as the week's No. 2 talk show in late-night in Adults 18-49 (1.008 million), running neck and neck with NBC's "The Tonight Show" (1.081 million).

· ABC's "JKL" increased its advantage over CBS' "Letterman" in Adults 18-49 for the 2nd straight week (1.008 million vs. 743,000), beating the CBS late-night talk show by its largest margin of the season yet (+36% vs. +22% for the prior week vs. +9% during premiere week). In addition, "JKL" nearly tied "Letterman" in Total Viewers, as just 37,000 viewers separated the two programs (2.780 million vs. 2.817 million).

· For the first time ever, "JKL" aired 3 telecasts during the course of a week with more than 3 million Total Viewers for each telecast: Monday (3.020 million), Wednesday (3.019 million), Thursday (3.068 million).

· "JKL" claimed 2 of the 3 highest-rated telecasts in late-night during the week among Adults 18-49, with its Wednesday (10/9/13) and Thursday (10/10/13) shows. Featuring Kanye West on Wednesday, ABC's "JKL" (1.251 million) dominated CBS' "Letterman" by 70% (734,000) among Adults 18-49 and NBC's "Leno" by 43% (875,000). "JKL" ranked No. 1 in its time periods in each of the Top 10 U.S. Markets on Wednesday in the young adult demo. On Thursday, "JKL" (1.249 million) beat "Letterman" by 50% (832,000) among Adults 18-49 and NBC's "Leno" by 31% (957,000).

· On Wednesday (10/9/13), "JKL" was the No. 1 most social broadcast talk show in late-night, with 57,086 tweets, easily outdelivering runner-up NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (7,706 tweets).

· In its first 4 days, the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" interview clip with Kanye West on Wednesday (10/9/13) generated 4.4 million video views on YouTube (4,398,969).

"Nightline" (M-F 12:35 a.m.)

ABC News' "Nightline" drew 1.684 million Total Viewers, 742,000 Adults 25-54 and 584,000 Adults 18-49 for the week of October 7, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" outperformed CBS' "The Late Late Show" by its largest margins of the season yet in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+295,000), Adults 25-54 (+124,000) and Adults 18-49 (+122,000). "Nightline" has beaten the CBS program in all key target demos for the last 6 weeks.

"Nightline" claimed the No. 1 telecast in Total Viewers (1.856 million) and Adults 25-54 (907,000) on Wednesday (10/9/13), beating both CBS' "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.663 million and 739,000, respectively) and NBC's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.735 million and 819,000, respectively).

Growing over the previous week (1.591 million, 696,000 and 548,000, respectively, on w/o 9/30/13) for the 3rd week in a row in Total Viewers (+6%), Adults 25-54 (+4%) and Adults 18-49 (+7%), "Nightline" turned in its strongest numbers in 4 months - since w/o 6/10/13, 6/17/10 and w/o 6/17/13, respectively.

"Nightline" posted across-the-board year-to-year gains on ABC's performance in the time period in Total Viewers (+15%), Adults 25-54 (+2%) and Adults 18-49 (+13%) - 1.467 million, 711,000, and 516,000, respectively, on w/o 10/8/13. Further, "Nightline" has improved on ABC's Total Viewer numbers in the time-slot for the last 7 weeks.
