· The Goldbergs was up over by double-digit margins over ABC's year-ago original of Happy Endings (4.3 million and 1.4/5 on 10/30/12) in the half hour, which had the advantage of airing out of an original DWTS, gaining 26% in Total Viewers and 21% in Adults 18-49.

"The Goldbergs" (9:00-9:30 p.m. - 5.4 million and 1.7/4 in AD18-49):

Building on its repeat "S.H.I.E.L.D." lead-in (4.3 million and 1.2/4) at 9:00 p.m., ABC's "The Goldbergs" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+4% to a 3-week high) and held 100% of its Adult 18-49 delivery (matching a 3-week high). The freshman ABC comedy beat Fox's "The X Factor" (4.4 million and 1.5/4) in the half-hour by 1.0 million viewers and by 13% in Adults 18-49.

· "The Goldbergs" was up by double-digit margins over ABC's year-ago original "Happy Endings" (4.3 million and 1.4/3 on 10/30/12) in the half-hour, which had the advantage of airing out of an original "Dancing," gaining 26% in Total Viewers and 21% in Adults 18-49.

"Trophy Wife" (9:30-10:00 p.m. - 4.3 million and 1.4/4 in AD18-49):

In the 9:30 p.m. half-hour, ABC's "Trophy Wife" was up week to week in Total Viewers (+5% to a 3-week high) and Adults 18-49 (+17% to match its 2nd highest rating).

· Like its lead-in, "Trophy Wife" grew from ABC's year-ago original "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23" (3.3 million and 1.2/3 on 10/30/12) in the half-hour, improving by 30% in Total Viewers and by 17% in Adults 18-49.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 48% currently, from 46% at the same point in 2012. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year- to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
