"The Tonight Show," "Late Night" Dominate 2013's Fourth Quarter, Winning in Every Key Ratings Measure

Leno, Fallon Outperform ABC, CBS Timeslot Competition While Also Seeing Year-to-Year Increases Versus 2012 Fourth Quarter

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. - Jan. 6, 2014 - NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" and "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" have delivered #1 finishes for the fourth quarter of 2013 versus the ABC and CBS time-period competition in every key ratings measure - adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers - to triumphantly conclude the last full quarter for Leno at 11:35 p.m. ET and Fallon at 12:35 a.m.

Leno and Fallon are up versus the fourth quarter of 2012 in every key category, with both generating their biggest fourth quarter 18-49 audiences in three years, since 2010. In total viewers, it's Leno's biggest fourth-quarter overall audience in three years and Fallon's biggest in the five years he's hosted "Late Night."

Versus the fourth quarter of 2012, "Tonight" is up 9% in both 18-49 viewers (to 1.140 million from 1.048 million) and total viewers (3.848 million vs. 3.522 million). "Late Night" is up versus the year-ago quarter by 19% in 18-49 viewers (802,000 vs. 673,000) and up 16% in total viewers (1.964 million vs. 1.696 million). At 1:35 a.m. ET, "Last Call with Caron Daly" jumped versus the fourth quarter of 2012 by 20% in 18-49 viewers (440,000 vs. 367,000) and by 12% in total viewers (980,000 vs. 877,000).

Leno has won his last 71 consecutive quarters versus CBS's "Late Show" in total viewers, dating back to the third quarter of 1995, and has won 69 of his last 70 quarters in viewers 18-49. Fallon has won 12 quarters in a row versus CBS's "Late Late Show" in total viewers and has topped or tied "Late Late Show" in viewers 18-49 for all 20 quarters Fallon has hosted "Late Night."

The quarter ended with the week of Dec. 23-27, during which Leno and Fallon once again outdelivered their ABC and CBS time-period competition in all key measures. Note it was a holiday week of mostly encore telecasts with Tuesday and Wednesday programming either preempted or excluded from weekly averages.

"Tonight" has now delivered bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Show" for the last 58 weeks in a row and topped "Kimmel" for 47 of their 51 head-to-head weeks. In total viewers, Leno has out-delivered "Late Show" for 62 weeks in a row and "Kimmel" for 51 of 51 weeks.

Fallon has now generated bigger 18-49 audiences than "Late Late Show" for 63 of the last 64 weeks and prevailed in total viewers for 60 of the last 62 weeks. Versus "Nightline" in their head-to-head half-hour, Fallon has outdelivered the ABC series for 51 of 51 weeks in viewers 18-49 and 46 of 48 weeks in total viewers.
