Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Demos for Second Consecutive Week

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (4/1/14):

CBS (14.498 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) held onto the top spot on Tuesday thanks to new episodes of "NCIS" (16.835 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.3, #3), "NCIS: Los Angeles" (15.159 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.4, #2) and "Person of Interest" (11.501 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #5).

NBC (7.635 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.0, #2) then had to settle for second place with originals from "The Voice" (11.788 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1), "About a Boy" (7.486 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.1, #4) and "Growing Up Fisher" (6.103 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #7) plus a repeat of "Chicago Fire" (4.325 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

Next up was ABC (3.863 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with the return of "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (5.387 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.8, #6), "The Goldbergs" (4.468 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #8) and "Trophy Wife" (2.920 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) alongside a repeat of "Resurrection" (2.508 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.265 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #4) served up a new "Glee" (2.606 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13) plus the spring premiere of "The Mindy Project" (1.928 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9) and a second "The Mindy Project" (1.921 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9).

And finally, repeats of "The Originals" (0.688 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T15) and "The 100" (0.943 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T15) on The CW (0.815 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the night. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), "Originals" delivered a 0.3 rating while "100" posted a 0.2 rating.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "Tonight," 1.1/5; "Late Show," 0.5/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.2/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.6/4 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.4/3).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/3 in metered-market households and a 0.3/3 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (4/2/13):

NBC (6.981 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.3, #1) claimed the top spot on Tuesday with its mix of "The Voice" (13.611 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 4.3, #1), "The New Normal" (4.972 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T3), the season finale of "The New Normal" (3.556 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T7) and the Saturday-bound "Smash" (3.067 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #13).

ABC (9.331 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then took home the silver with fresh installments of "Splash" (5.714 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T7), "Dancing with the Stars" (13.597 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #2) and "Body of Proof" (8.681 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #6).

Next up was CBS (9.544 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) with repeats of "NCIS" (10.882 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T7) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (10.020 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #5) plus a new "Golden Boy" (7.729 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T11).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.727 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #3) offered up a new "Hell's Kitchen" (4.740 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.9, #T3), a repeat of "New Girl" (2.750 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.3, #T11) and a new "The Mindy Project" (2.682 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T7).

And finally, encores of "Hart of Dixie" (0.748 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.3, #14) and "Beauty and the Beast" (0.632 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.2, #115) on The CW (0.690 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.2, #5) rounded out the evening. * From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" (1.4/5 in metered-market households) tied CBS's "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.1/4 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) tied "Late Late Show" (0.2/2 with an encore).
