ABC's "Once Upon a Time" Is Up to a 3-Week High/"Resurrection" Dominates Its Regular Competition at 9pm

ABC Sunday Prime (7-11pm - 6.3 million and 1.7/5 in AD18-49): Against CBS with its annual 3-hour broadcast of the ACM Awards (8-11pm), ABC (1.7/5) earned second place on Sunday in Adults 18-49, beating Fox by 13% (1.5/4) and NBC by 113% (0.8/3). The Net also took second in Total Viewers, leading third-place NBC by 2.4 million viewers (6.3 million vs. 3.9 million).

America's Funniest Home Videos (7-8pm - 6.0 million and 1.3/4 in AD18-49): During the 7pm hour, ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos ranked #1 in Adults 18-49 (1.3/4-tie w/60 Minutes), leading Fox's animated comedies by 30% (Bob's Burgers/American Dad = 1.0/3) and more than doubling an NBC News Special (+117% - 0.6/2)

Once Upon a Time (8-9pm - 6.7 million and 2.2/6 in AD18-49): Spiking over its lead-in by 69% at 8pm, ABC's Once Upon a Time (2.2/6) finished #1 against its regular competition for the 5th straight week among Adults 18-49, beating Fox's comedies by 5% (The Simpsons/Family Guy = 2.1/6) and NBC's American Dream Builders by 267% (0.6/2). Once Upon a Time grew week to week in Total Viewers (+2%) and Adults 18-49 (+5%), hitting a 3-week high with young adults - since 3/16/14. In addition, the ABC drama was up for the 2nd week in a row with Adults 18-34 (+6%) and shot up 38% with Kids 2-11.

Resurrection (9-10pm - 7.5 million and 2.1/5 in AD18-49): During the 9pm hour, ABC's Resurrection (2.1/5) beat its regular broadcast competition for the 5th week in a row in Adults 18-49, more than doubling NBC's Believe (+110% - 1.0/2) and outdelivering Fox's Cosmos by 40% (1.5/4).

· On average, Resurrection delivers big gains to its preliminary numbers via TV playback, growing by +4.1 million viewers and adding +1.4 rating points among Adults 18-49 from its first-reported L+SD numbers to its L+7 ratings.

Revenge (10-11pm - 4.9 million and 1.3/3 in AD18-49): During the 10pm hour, ABC's Revenge beat NBC's Crisis by 30% in Adults 18-49 (1.3/3 vs. 1.0/3) to rank as the #1 drama in the hour for the 4th time in 5 weeks. Revenge paced within 1-tenth of an Adult 18-49 rating point week to week.

A note about increasing DVR penetration and year-to-year rating comparisons: Year-to-year rating comparisons based on the Live + Same Day data stream are distorted by the level of DVR penetration in the Nielsen sample, which has jumped up to 49% currently, from 47% at the same point in 2013. More viewers are watching shows on their own timetables, which may not be reflected in the overnight next day numbers. The only truly valid year-to-year comparison would be one based on the Live + 7 Day metric, once those stats are released by Nielsen.
