MTV's Hit Series Proves It's Still Cool to Be "Awkward" in Season Four

MTV'S HIT SERIES PROVES IT'S STILL COOL TO BE "AWKWARD" IN SEASON FOUR

Season Four Premiere Sees Double-Digit Increases Over Season 3B and Scores as Tuesday's #1 Cable Series

NEW YORK, NY (April 16, 2014) - The season four premiere of MTV's critically acclaimed comedy series "Awkward" drew-in 1.6 million total viewers and earned a strong 1.8 P12-34 rating, marking 33- and 50-percent increases over the season 3B average, respectively. It was Tuesday's #1 cable series.

Additionally, the premiere scored a 3.2 rating among female teens making it Tuesday's #1 telecast across all TV in the demo.

On the social front, the season premiere was the #1 most social program of the night across all television, garnering 234,000 tweets, up 39 percent from the 3B premiere.

In Tuesday's episode, directed by Ashley Rickards, Jenna struggles to communicate with Matty, thinking that his remoteness is about their recent hookup when it is actually about a big discovery he is keeping to himself. Meanwhile Tamara questions Jake's musical talent, and Sadie and Lissa's friendship is tested by Lissa being the new Cheer Captain. Immediately following the all-new episode of "Awkward," MTV will premiere its new scripted comedy "Faking It" at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT.

"Awkward" stars Ashley Rickards as Jenna, Beau Mirchoff as Matty, Molly Tarlov as Sadie, Jillian Rose Reed as Tamara, Brett Davern as Jake, Nikki DeLoach as Lacey, Desi Lydic as Valerie, Greer Grammer as Lissa and Mike Faiola as Kevin.
