RADIO DISNEY MUSIC AWARDS DELIVERS 3.2 MILLION TOTAL VIEWERS AND NEARLY 2 MILLION KIDS 6-14

#1 Telecast of the Month Among Major Youth Demographics Included Performances by Austin Mahone, Ariana Grande, Zendaya, R5, Becky G and Fifth Harmony

In a rousing television debut, "Disney Channel Presents the Radio Disney Music Awards" (RDMAs) - a celebration of music for kids and families - delivered 3.2 million Total Viewers and ranked as the #1 primetime TV telecast of April 2014 across all major youth demographics - Kids 2-11 (1.7 million/4.3 rating), Kids 6-11 (1.4 million/6.0 rating), Kids 6-14 (1.9 million/5.4 rating), Tweens 9-14 (1.4 million/5.6 rating) and Teens 12-17 (683,000/2.8 rating). It was also the #1 telecast across all TV for the month in Girls 2-11 (1.1 million/5.8 rating), Girls 6-11 (947,000/8.1 rating), Girls 6-14 (1.3 million/7.2 rating) and Girls 9-14 (877,000/7.4 rating). The event is in its second year. The event's first-time television special was presented Sunday, April 27 (8:00-9:30 p.m.).

The Radio Disney Music Awards ranked in the Top 10 relevant tweets for the week of April 21, according to Nielsen SocialGuide.

Compared to all other televised music awards shows this year, the Disney Channel telecast of the RDMAs ranks #1 among Kids 2-11, Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14 (the competition includes the "MTV Video Music Awards," the "Billboard Music Awards" and the "American Music Awards"). The RDMA telecast defeated the Grammy Awards among Kids 2-11 (1.7 million vs. 1.3 million) and Kids 6-11 (1.4 million vs. 877,000) and virtually tied it among Tweens 9-14 (1.361 million vs. 1.371 million).

Against similar kids awards shows, the RDMA telecast defeated Cartoon Network's "Hall of Games" in its fourth year (947,000 vs. 145,000) and defeated the "Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards" in its 27th year (947,000 vs. 872,000) among Girls 6-11.

Musical performances were by Austin Mahone, Becky G, Zendaya, R5, Fifth Harmony and Ariana Grande, who debuted her new single, "Problem," which has since soared to #1 on the iTunes singles chart. The event was capped by a stirring performance from 11 year-old Aalyah Rose of Provo, UT, singing the Oscar-winning "Let it Go" from Disney's animated film "Frozen."

Shakira, the multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and global recording artist, received the "Hero Award" acknowledging her work to improve the lives of children around the world through the Barefoot Foundation, which she founded at age 18.

During Sunday's broadcast, Shakira also presented the "RDMAs' Heroes for Change Award" to Matthew, 16, from Phoenix, AZ, nominated by Youth Services America (YSA) for his "The Be O.N.E. Project," an anti-bullying program for elementary and middle school children; Arianna, 17, from Carpinteria, CA, nominated by Girls Inc. for "Carpinteria Clean and Green," an anti-smoking initiative; and Yossy Rojas, 19, from Dana Point, CA, nominated by the Boys and Girls Clubs of America for his involvement with "Relay For Life," "Street Smarts" and "Sticker Shock," efforts to increase drug and alcohol education.

Selena Gomez won three Ardy statuettes in the categories "The Bestest" (Song of the Year - Come & Get It), "#Cool" (Radio Disney's Most Talked About Artist) and "Move!" (Best Song to Dance To - Birthday). Justin Timberlake won in the "He's the One" category (Best Male Artist); Demi Lovato was voted "She's the One" (Best Female Artist) and her song Made In The USA won in the category "Hit the Road" (Favorite Roadtrip Song - Sponsored by GEICO). Ariana Grande received the Radio Disney Chart Topper Award (three top five singles for a combined 73 weeks). One Direction was voted "They're the One" (Best Music Group). Taylor Swift's "Swifties" came out in force, winning the "So FANtastic" category (Fiercest Fans) and scoring Swift an Ardy for "Musical Mashup" (Best Musical Collaboration) for Everything Has Changed, featuring Ed Sheeran. Fifth Harmony won two Ardys - in the categories "The Buzz" (Breakout Artist of the Year) and "That's My Jam" (Best Song To Rock Out To With Your BFF) for their song, Me & My Girls. The band R5 received the Radio Disney Showstopper Award for their dedication to fan engagement and live concert and event appearances around the world. Zendaya won an Ardy for "You've Got Swag!" (Artist With The Best Style - Sponsored by Justice). Becky G won in the category "The Freshest" (Best New Artist). Paramore's song Still Into You won an Ardy for "XOXO" (Best Crush Song), while Britney Spears's song Ooh La La won the "So Happy" category (Best Song That Makes You Smile - Sponsored by ARM & HAMMER Tooth Tunes). The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?) by Ylvis won in the category "Stuck In Our Heads" (Catchiest New Song) and the song "Let It Go" by Ididna Menzel from "Frozen" won in the category "Soundtraxx" favorite (Favorite Song From a Movie or TV Show).

Scheduled this week are four encore telecasts including one with the addition of a special "Ardy's Pre-Show Party," FRIDAY, MAY 2 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
