THE "TONIGHT SHOW" GENERATES ITS TOP-RATED ENCORE WEEK IN THREE YEARS; FALLON, MEYERS DOMINATE WEEK OF MAY 26-30

Fallon Out-Rates Letterman, Kimmel Combined, Meyers Tops Letterman Despite Starting an Hour Later at 12:35 A.M.

NEW YORK - June 5, 2014 - "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" has dominated the late-night week of May 26-30, generating "Tonight's" highest 18-49 rating for a week of encores in three years.

For the week, Fallon topped the 18-49 averages of the ABC and CBS competition combined.

At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" out-rated CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" and finished within 0.04 of a point of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live," despite starting an hour later than those 11:35 p.m. shows.

Note: Meyers, Kimmel and Letterman were also in rebroadcast last week and all Monday late-night results on ABC, CBS and NBC were excluded from weekly averages due to the Memorial Day holiday.

For the week, Fallon averaged a 0.97 rating in adults 18-49 to beat the 0.96 for the combined competition of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (0.52) and CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" (0.44). Versus "Tonight" results for the same week last year, the show was up +41% in 18-49 rating (to a 0.97 from a 0.69) and up +12% in total viewers (3.1 million vs. 2.8 million).

The 0.97 rating for Fallon last week was the best for a week of "Tonight" encores since May 30-June 3, 2011, when the show averaged a 0.99.

At 12:35 a.m., "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (0.48) topped Letterman's 0.44 and finished narrowly behind Kimmel's 0.52, despite the later start time for "Late Night." Meyers' week of encores also beat CBS's first-run "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" by a +55% margin in 18-49 rating (0.48 vs. 0.31) head to head from 12:35-1:35 a.m., and outscored ABC's "Nightline" by a +57% margin in their head-to-head half-hour (0.55 vs. 0.35 from 12:30-1 a.m.).

Meyers topped both Ferguson and "Nightline" head to head in every key ratings measure.
