Monday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Dramas Hold Off Return of ABC's "Bachelor"

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (1/4/16):

CBS (10.261 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1) was the top draw on Monday with the return of "Supergirl" (8.779 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.8, #3), "Scorpion" (11.537 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.1, #2) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (10.467 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #5).

ABC (6.423 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) then was a close second with the season premiere of "The Bachelor" (7.529 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.2, #1) and its post-show "The Bachelor Live" (4.213 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #9).

Next up was NBC (4.325 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with the formal premieres of "Superstore" (6.028 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4) and "Telenovela" (4.540 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.3, #6) alongside the return of "The Biggest Loser" (3.846 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (3.550 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #4) offered up its two-hour special "SuperHuman" (3.550 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T7).

And finally, repeats of "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.618 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.5, #10), another "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.502 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.317 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T11) on The CW (1.438 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #5) closed out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.9/5; "Late Show," 0.4/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.3/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.1/4). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/2).

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 11 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (1/5/15):

CBS (11.012 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.2, #T1) was the most-watched network on Monday with the return of "2 Broke Girls" (9.081 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.4, #T2), "Mike & Molly" (9.553 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.2, #T4), "Scorpion" (12.087 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.4, #T2) and "NCIS: Los Angeles" (11.634 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #7).

ABC (7.717 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.2, #T1) however split the adults 18-49 honors thanks to its full night event of "The Bachelor" (7.717 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 2.2, #T4).

Next up was FOX (5.678 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 2.0, #3) with originals from "Gotham" (6.891 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 2.5, #1) and "Sleepy Hollow" (4.466 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.6, #8).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.879 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4) served up night two of "The Celebrity Apprentice" (6.582 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 2.1, #6) and a new "State of Affairs" (4.475 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #9).

And finally, repeats of "The Originals" (0.813 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T10) and "Jane the Virgin" (0.762 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T10) closed out the evening for The CW (0.787 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former delivered a 0.2 rating while the latter posted a 0.5 rating.
