Tuesday's Broadcast Ratings: CBS Tops Viewers, Shares Demo Crown with NBC

Here are the highlights of the 16 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (5/3/16):

CBS (11.421 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) was the most-watched network on Tuesday with new episodes of "NCIS" (14.564 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.9, #1), "NCIS: New Orleans" (12.351 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.8, #2) and the return of "Person of Interest" (7.350 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6).

NBC (7.917 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) then shared in the demo honors with its trio of "The Voice" (8.418 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T3), "Chicago Med" (7.569 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5) and "Chicago Fire" (7.765 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T3).

Next up was The CW (2.380 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3) with originals from "The Flash" (3.283 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T6) and "Containment" (1.477 million viewers, #16; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T14).

Meanwhile, ABC (2.862 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4) offered up its mix of "Fresh Off the Boat" (4.247 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #8), "The Real O'Neals" (3.288 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (2.887 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11) and the Friday-bound "Beyond the Tank" (1.934 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T14).

And finally, new episodes of "New Girl" (2.274 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T9), "Grandfathered" (1.877 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #13), another "New Girl" (1.908 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T11) and "The Grinder" (1.567 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T14) on FOX (1.907 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T4) closed out the night.

·From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.0/3 in metered-market households and a 0.2/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

·From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/5 in metered-market households) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (1.0/3). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.5/3 in 18-49) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1).

·At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.8/4 in metered-market households and a 0.3/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (5/5/15):

CBS (11.896 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) was the most-watched network on Tuesday with its mix of "NCIS" (14.235 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.0, #1), "NCIS: New Orleans" (13.248 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T3) and "Person of Interest" (8.206 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T11).

NBC (6.591 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T1) then shared in the demo honors with its lineup of "The Voice" (8.753 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2), "Undateable" (4.771 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6), a second "Undateable" (3.791 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9) and "Chicago Fire" (6.739 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.6, #T3).

Next up was ABC (6.238 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.3, #3) with originals from "Dancing with the Stars" (10.128 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6), "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" (4.482 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.5, #5) and the season finale of "Forever" (4.103 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T11).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.668 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #5) served up a new "Hell's Kitchen" (3.423 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T9) followed by the season finales of "New Girl" (2.239 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T11) and "Weird Loners" (1.586 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #15).

And finally, new episodes of "The Flash" (3.643 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 1.4, #T6) and "iZombie" (1.933 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.7, #14) closed out the evening on The CW (2.788 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4). In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), the former posted a 1.0 rating while the latter delivered a 0.6 rating.
