Friday's Broadcast Ratings: ABC Tops Demos on Low Key Night

Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (9/2/16):

ABC (3.813 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1) was the demo champ on a low key Friday with its mix of "Shark Tank" (3.902 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2), "Primetime: What Would You Do?" (3.582 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.8, #1) and "20/20" (3.955 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2).

NBC (3.424 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.7, #2) then was a close second with repeats of "America's Got Talent" (3.258 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5) and "Dateline NBC" (3.758 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T2).

Next up was CBS (5.066 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T3) and its trio of "NCIS: Los Angeles" (4.750 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5), "Hawaii Five-0" (5.113 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5) and "Blue Bloods" (5.335 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.844 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T3) served up an encore of "MasterChef" (1.844 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T5).

And finally, repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (1.070 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11), another "Masters of Illusion" (1.063 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11) and a new "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.444 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.4, #10) closed out the night on The CW (1.255 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5).

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 results were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.8/4; "Late Show," 0.3/2; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.5/3, with an encore.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.2/4 in metered-market households and a 0.4/2 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Seth Meyers" (1.3/4 in metered-market households with an encore) beat CBS's "Late Late Show" (0.9/3 with an encore). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, "Late Night" (0.4/3 in 18-49 with an encore) topped "Late Late Show" (0.2/1 with an encore).


Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (9/4/15):

ABC (4.299 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.9, #1) was the demo champ on Friday with repeats of "Shark Tank" (4.080 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.9, #3), another "Shark Tank" (4.431 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1) and a new "20/20" (4.387 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4).

NBC (3.695 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.8, #2) then claimed the silver with repeats of "America's Got Talent" (3.364 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.7, #T4) and "Dateline NBC" (4.359 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.0, #T1).

Next up was CBS (4.388 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) and second runs of "Elementary" (3.450 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7), "Hawaii Five-0" (4.478 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7) and "Blue Bloods" (5.238 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T7).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.391 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T3) offered up encores of "MasterChef" (1.695 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.6, #6) and "Gotham" (1.088 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.4, #10).

And finally, repeats of "Masters of Illusion" (1.314 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11), "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (1.075 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11) and "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" (1.299 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T11) on The CW (1.246 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #5) closed out the evening. In the netlet's target demo (women 18-34), said trio posted a 0.3, 0.2 and 0.3 rating, respectively.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.7/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.
