Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: "Thursday Night Football" Keeps CBS on Top

Here are the highlights of the 15 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (10/19/17):

CBS (9.511 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.7, #1) staved off the competition last night with its coverage of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (7.560 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.9, #2) and "Thursday Night Football" (9.901 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.8, #1).

Second place then went to NBC (5.177 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.2, #2) with originals from "Superstore" (4.214 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5), "The Good Place" (3.922 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5), "Will & Grace" (6.510 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.7, #3), "Good News" (3.775 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) and "Chicago Fire" (6.322 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5).

Next up was ABC (4.540 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #3) and its annual telecasts of "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (5.987 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.4, #4) and "Toy Story of Terror!" (4.764 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) plus new episodes from "Scandal" (4.670 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.1, #T5) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (3.575 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.9, #10).

Meanwhile, FOX (2.455 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.7, #4) offered up a new "Gotham" (2.709 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.8, #T11) and a repeat "The Orville" (2.202 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13).

And finally, week two of "Supernatural" (1.898 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13) and "Arrow" (1.534 million viewers, #15; adults 18-49: 0.6, #T13) on The CW (1.716 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.6, #5) rounded out the night.

· In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, adult 18-49 ratings were: "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," 0.4/2 with an encore; "Late Show," with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun; and "Jimmy Kimmel Live," 0.6/3.

· From 12:35-1:05 a.m. ET, ABC's "Nightline" averaged a 1.5/5 in metered-market households and a 0.4/3 in 18-49 in the Local People Meters.

· From 12:35-1:35 a.m. ET, ratings were: "Late Night with Seth Meyers," 1.0/4 in metered-market households with an encore; CBS's "Late Late Show," with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, averages were: "Late Night," 0.3/3 with an encore in 18-49; "Late Late Show," with an encore delayed by an NFL overrun.

· At 1:35 a.m., "Last Call with Carson Daly" averaged a 0.6/3 in metered-market households with an encore and a 0.2/2 in adults 18-49 in the 25 markets with local people meters.


Here are the highlights of the 12 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (10/20/16):

CBS (10.079 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 2.9, #1) was the top draw on Thursday with its final week of "Thursday Night Football Pre-Game" (7.977 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2) and "Thursday Night Football" (10.499 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 3.0, #1).

FOX (4.949 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.7, #2) then bumped up to second place with its presentation of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again" (4.949 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.7, #4).

Next up was ABC (5.448 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 1.4, #3) and its trio of "Grey's Anatomy" (8.063 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T2), "Notorious" (3.980 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9) and "How to Get Away with Murder" (4.302 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5).

Meanwhile, NBC (5.304 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 1.1, #4) offered up originals from "Superstore" (4.145 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 1.0, #8), "The Good Place" (3.768 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.9, #T9), "Chicago Med" (6.614 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 1.2, #T5) and "The Blacklist" (5.342 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 1.1, #7).
