Thursday's Broadcast Ratings: NBC Wins Christmas Eve with "It's a Wonderful Life"

Here are the highlights of the 13 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks last night (12/24/20):

NBC (4.472 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #1) was the top draw on Christmas Eve with its annual telecast of "It's a Wonderful Life" (4.472 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.6, #1).

ABC (2.117 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.4, #2) took home the silver with its mix of "The Greatest Showman" (2.503 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.4, #2), "Disney Prep & Landing" (1.416 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3) and "Disney Prep & Landing 2: Naughty vs. Nice" (1.275 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3).

Next up was CBS (2.422 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.3, #3) and its repeat lineup of "Young Sheldon" (3.109 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3), "B Positive" (2.324 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3), "Mom" (2.273 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T8), "The Unicorn" (1.917 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T8) and "FBI" (2.455 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.3, #T3).

Meanwhile, FOX (0.891 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T4) offered up encores of "The Resident" (1.015 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T8) and "Prodigal Son" (0.767 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T11).

And finally, The CW (0.549 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T4) closed the evening with rebroadcasts of "iHeartRadio Jingle Ball 2020" (0.573 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T11) and "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" (0.479 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T11).


Here are the highlights of the 14 ad-sustained programs that aired in primetime on the broadcast networks one year ago (12/26/19):

NBC (3.370 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) was the most-watched network on a modest Thursday with repeats of "Ellen's Greatest Night of Giveaways" (3.045 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) and "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors" (3.533 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1).

Sharing the demo crown was ABC (2.801 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) with an encore of "Happy New Year, Charlie Brown" (2.925 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1) and a new "The Great American Baking Show: Holiday Edition" (2.739 million viewers, #8; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1).

Next up was CBS (3.329 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.4, #3) with repeats of "Young Sheldon" (5.286 million viewers, #1; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T1), "The Unicorn" (3.801 million viewers, #2; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T6), "Mom" (3.713 million viewers, #3; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T6), "Carol's Second Act" (3.253 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T6) and "Evil" (1.962 million viewers, #10; adults 18-49: 0.3, #10).

Meanwhile, FOX (1.590 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.3, #4) offered up second runs of "9-1-1" (2.199 million viewers, #9; adults 18-49: 0.4, #T6), "The Moodys" (1.086 million viewers, #11; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11) and another "The Moodys" (0.876 million viewers, #12; adults 18-49: 0.2, #T11).

And finally, rebroadcasts of "iHeartRadio Music Festival Greatest Moments" (0.786 million viewers, #13; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T13) and "Legacies" (0.425 million viewers, #14; adults 18-49: 0.1, #T13) rounded out the evening on The CW (0.606 million viewers, #5; adults 18-49: 0.1, #5).
