'Nightline' Grows Year to Year Across the Board

Season to Date, 'Nightline' Reports Strongest Total Viewer and News Demo Performance in 3 Years

ABC News' "Nightline" ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers (891,000), Adults 25-54 (220,000) for the week of Oct. 9, 2023, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. "Nightline" took the top spot, beating CBS' "Comics Unleashed" and NBC's "Late Night with Seth Meyers" in all 3 weeks of the season.

"Nightline" turned year-to-year increases across the board: Total Viewers (+12% - 891,000 vs. 798,000), Adults 25-54 (+8% - 220,000 vs. 203,000) and Adults 18-49 (+15% - 155,000 vs. 135,000).

Season to date, "Nightline" is growing compared to the same point last season in Total Viewers (+5% - 958,000 vs. 915,000) and Adults 25-54 (254,000 vs. 253,000), posting its strongest numbers in 3 years - since the 2020-2021 season.

This week, "Nightline" provided in-depth coverage of the Israel-Hamas war, covering the horror at the Israeli music festival amid Hamas attacks; families speaking out after loved ones were taken hostage by Hamas; stories of hope and survival amid death and destruction; how Hamas emerged amid Israeli-Palestinian conflicts; how thousands of Israeli soldiers are returning to Israel for military service; tensions rising on Harvard campus over Israel-Gaza conflict; a suspected Hamas terrorist being caught; Jewish and Muslim clergy offering their sobering assessment on Israel-Hamas conflict; President Biden's vow to rescue Hamas hostages and more.
