All Hail 'The Royals'! Romance, Royalty and Sass Take Center Stage in Netflix's Upcoming Series

~ Roll out the red carpet for Rajkumars and Aam Kumaris in The Royals, a modern-day Indian royal rom-com. Netflix and Pritish Nandy Communications present the series, premiering on May 9. ~

What begins as a business deal between a crumbling royal family and a sharp, sassy, self-made CEO quickly unravels into a rollercoaster of romance, comedy and a whole lot of drama! The trailer for Netflix's The Royals is here - offering a first glimpse into the grand but fading city of Morpur, where an endearing prince and a determined CEO are forced to team up... and maybe fall in love.

The series stars Ishaan Khatter as Aviraaj Singh, a reluctant, polo-playing new-age Rajkumar (prince), and Bhumi Pednekar as Aam Kumari (commoner) Sophia Kanmani Shekhar, a fiercely driven CEO with dreams bigger than any palace. As they join forces to transform Morpur's struggling haveli and its quirky residents into a luxury B&B experience, their clash of egos and ambitions sparks a whirlwind of flirtation, family feuds, and high-stakes frenzy.

As they join forces to transform Morpur's struggling haveli (royal mansion) into a luxury B&B, their clash of egos and ambitions sparks a whirlwind of flirtation, family feuds, and high-stakes frenzy.

Although unable to attend the trailer launch, Zeenat Aman reflects on her illustrious career spanning decades, "I find myself as passionate as ever about embracing new roles and opportunities. The Royals has been both refreshing and creatively fulfilling. Collaborating with vibrant young talents, brimming with energy and fresh perspectives, ensured that every moment on set was lively and engaging. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Pritish Nandy Communications and Netflix for bringing this extraordinary tale of romance, and for including me in this project."

Bhumi Pednekar says, "Playing Sophia felt like stepping into a world that's both aspirational and deeply relatable. She's fierce, ambitious, and emotionally honest - qualities I've always been drawn to. I'm glad I could collaborate with Netflix and Pritish Nandy Communications for The Royals and extremely grateful that they brought this series to life - I hope people have as much fun watching it as we did making it."

Ishaan Khatter adds, "To share the screen with such legendary and accomplished actors has been inspiring and a joy. This marks my second collaboration with Netflix globally and my first with Netflix India and it has been an adventure yet again. The Royals is a fresh, modern-day rom-com - zany, unpredictable, and packed with surprises. I can't wait for audiences to dive into the world of Morpur and binge it all! There's a lot of love, drama, humour - something for everyone. Maharaja Aviraaj is the most frustratingly charming character I've essayed and I hope the audience enjoys watching him as much as I enjoyed playing the role."

Directed by Priyanka Ghose and Nupur Asthana, written by Neha Veena Sharma, and produced under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications, The Royals is created by Rangita Pritish Nandy and Ishita Pritish Nandy, known for their pop-culture-savvy, whip-smart storytelling.

Rounding out this royal ride is a stellar ensemble, including Zeenat Aman, Sakshi Tanwar, Nora Fatehi, Dino Morea, Milind Soman, Chunky Panday, Vihaan Samat, Kavya Trehan, Sumukhi Suresh, Udit Arora, Lisa Mishra, and Luke Kenny - all set against the blazing Morpur sun.

When their worlds collide, things get messy, emotional, and seriously entertaining!

Will love reign supreme, or will ambition tear them apart? The Royals premieres May 9, only on Netflix.
