'Sins of Kujo' Premieres April 2: Teaser Trailer, Art and Additional Cast Unveiled
Justice or manipulation of the law? The line blurs in Sins of Kujo, premiering worldwide on April 2. The teaser trailer and art were also unveiled today, alongside an expanded cast bringing the live‑action adaptation of Shohei Manabe's hit manga to life.
Led by Yuya Yagira as Taiza Kujo and Hokuto Matsumura as elite lawyer Shinji Karasuma, the series probes the razor‑thin line between justice and corruption. Clients who walk into Kujo Law Office are society's outcasts - delinquent groups, yakuza, ex‑convicts. But Kujo's credo is simple: "A lawyer's job is to protect their clients." He uses the law to reduce their sentences, earning public condemnation as a "crooked attorney," while the brilliant and by-the-book Karasuma supports him and questions him in equal measure.
The teaser hints at casework that exposes the dark seams of modern society - hit‑and‑run drunk driving, illegal drug deals, abuse inside nursing homes, and disputes over adult video appearances - while introducing the newly announced original theme song, "Dogs" by Hitsujibungaku. Alongside this, several key character visuals were revealed: Hitomi Yakushimae (Elaiza Ikeda), Kengo Mibu (Keita Machida), Yoshinobu Arashiyama (Takuma Otoo) and Kiyoshi Kyogoku (Murotsuyoshi).
A star-studded cast brings the underbelly of society to life:
Takenori Goto as Ryoma Sugawara, head of a nursing home
Kaito Yoshimura as Yuya Kuga, Sugawara's underling
Rintaro Mizusawa as Yohei Fukami, subordinate to Detective Arashiyama
Shunsuke Tanaka as Yuto Inukai, currently serving time for a crime
Kodai Kurosaki as Sota Sogabe, a drug courier whom Kujo defends after being introduced by Mibu
Taiga Harada (Biscuit Brothers) as Suguru Kanemoto, a drug dealer
Ruka Ishikawa as Shizuku Kasagi, a "landmine girl" wandering the streets of Shinjuku Kabukicho
Ryo Iwamatsu as Yuzo Yamashiro, Kujo's former mentor and a lawyer
Makiko Watanabe as Hanae Iemori, one of Kujo's clients
Akiko Kikuchi as Tomoko Ichida, a newspaper reporter
Shinobu Hasegawa (Sissonne) as Yoshiaki Koyama, adult video company president
Yuu Kashii as Reiko Kameoka, Kujo's law school peer and a human-rights lawyer
Ken Mitsuishi as Nobuteru Nagaragi, a veteran human-rights lawyer
Nobuko Sendo as Akiko Karasuma, Karasuma's mother
Toma Ikuta as Kuroudo Kurama, a prosecutor
The teaser also features glimpses of Kengo Mibu (Keita Machida), who routinely brings trouble to Kujo's door, moving between shadowy figures; Kiyoshi Kyogoku (Murotsuyoshi), the heavily tattooed underboss of the Fushimi‑gumi; and Koyama (Shinobu Hasegawa) in a covert meeting. Even in brief cuts, the "hidden world" feels chillingly real - and watching how these figures intersect with Kujo will be part of the intrigue.
Sins of Kujo is directed by Nobuhiro Doi (We Made a Beautiful Bouquet, The Voice of Sin) with Takeyoshi Yamamoto and Hiroshi Adachi, from scripts by Nonji Nemoto (The Honest Realtor, Police in a Pod). Acclaimed producer Atsushi Nasuda (The Full‑Time Wife Escapist, The Voice of Sin) joins for his first collaboration with Netflix. Since its launch in Weekly Big Comic Spirits (Shogakukan) in October 2020, Shohei Manabe's "Sins of Kujo" has sold over 4 million copies across 15 volumes.
Sins of Kujo premieres April 2, only on Netflix.
