ABC Extends 'George Lopez,' 'Jim'

CHICAGO (thefutoncritic.com) -- ABC has picked up two additional episodes of "The George Lopez Show" as well as four extra installments of its veteran comedy "According to Jim."

Both orders bring each series' respective season total above the traditional 22-episode order for a full season, a growing trend among ABC's comedies. Last season the Alphabet asked for 28 episodes of "Jim" and 24 episodes of "Lopez" as well as 28 episodes of "Eight Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" and 27 episodes of "My Wife and Kids."

"Lopez" has averaged a solid 8.2 million viewers this season on Friday nights including a 2.9 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 while "Jim" has averaged 11.6 million viewers on Tuesdays.
