The Futon's Upfront Notes: Abc
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- A round-up of the various developments from ABC's upfront presentation that may have gotten lost in the shuffle:

-- Mondays and Tuesdays at midseason. While not detailed on the network's press release, the Alphabet confirmed that once "Dancing With the Stars" and "The Bachelor" conclude next season its schedule on said nights will be as follows:

Mondays
8:00/7:00c - "Wife Swap"
9:00/8:00c - "Sam I Am" (Moves from 9:30/8:30c)
9:30/8:30c - "Notes from the Underbelly"
10:00/9:00c - "October Road"

Tuesdays
8:00/7:00c - "Cavemen"
8:30/7:30c - "Carpoolers"
9:00/9:00c - "Cashmere Mafia"
10:00/9:00c - "Boston Legal"

-- With the cancellation of "The George Lopez Show" and (potentially) "According to Jim," "Boston Legal," "Desperate Housewives," "Lost" and "Grey's Anatomy" have become the longest running scripted series on ABC's schedule. All four launched during the 2004-2005 season. 11 other series also did not make the cut for 2007-2008: comedies "Big Day," "Help Me Help You," "In Case of Emergency" and "The Knights of Prosperity"; dramas "Day Break," "The Nine," "Six Degrees" and "What About Brian"; and alternative entries "Extreme Makeover," "The Great American Dream Vote" and "Show Me the Money." Said number is down from last year at this time when 15 series got the axe.

-- "Primetime" will return at some point next season. ABC Entertainment topper Steve McPherson mentioned during this morning's conference call to the press he expects the veteran newsmagazine to turn up next season in the same fashion it did this year - as a utility player. To date this season, 20 episodes of "Primetime" have aired, down from the 33 that ran at the same point last season.

-- Including "National Bingo Night" and "Traveler," ABC expects to air at least nine original series this summer. Clips were shown from "Just for Laughs," "The Next Best Thing: Who is the Greatest Celebrity Impersonator?," "Shaq's Big Challenge," "American Inventor" and "Fat March" (previously known as "Too Big to Walk?"). They join the previously announced "The Ex-Wives Club" and "Fast Cars & Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race." No mention was made of "Greg Behrendt's Wake-Up Call," "Masters of Science Fiction," "NASCAR in Primetime" or "Set for Life."
