2008 Monday Night Football Preseason Schedule

Tirico, Jaworski and Kornheiser to Call Four-Game Slate in August

ESPN will kickoff its 2008 Monday Night Football preseason schedule with the New Orleans Saints at Arizona Cardinals Thursday, August 7 at 8 p.m. ET. ESPN's commentator team of Mike Tirico (play-by-play) and analysts Ron Jaworski and Tony Kornheiser will call four NFL preseason games during the month of August three on Mondays and one Thursday in anticipation of their regular-season debut on Monday, Sept. 8. All preseason games will begin at 8 p.m.

The New Orleans-Arizona opener will feature Saints quarterback Drew Brees and running back Reggie Bush going against Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart -- Bush's college teammate at Southern Cal -- and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. The game will be played at University of Phoenix Stadium, which hosted Super Bowl XLII in February.

The Cincinnati Bengals will face the Green Bay Packers Monday, Aug. 11 in ESPN's second preseason contest. The game will feature Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer and Aaron Rodgers, who takes over the starting job in Green Bay with the retirement of Brett Favre. The game will be played at Lambeau Field, site of ESPN's MNF regular-season opener four weeks later (Vikings vs. Packers).

Derek Anderson and the upstart Cleveland Browns will face Eli Manning and the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants at the Meadowlands on Monday, August 18. A week later on Aug. 25, a match-up of West Coast teams -- Matt Hasselbeck and the Seattle Seahawks versus LaDainian Tomlinson and the San Diego Chargers -- will round out ESPN's preseason schedule.

ESPN Deportes, ESPN's 24-hour Spanish-language domestic sports network, will once again offer a Spanish-language production of MNF preseason and regular season games in 2008.
