NEW YORK, NY � May 28, 2008 � Oxygen will pay tribute to legendary director Sydney Pollack with a special airing of his film "The Way We Were" on Sunday, June 1 at 1 p.m. (ET/PT). Starring Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford, the 1973 drama is an iconic romance about ill-fated lovers who meet up later in life. The movie is a classic tale still referenced in today's culture, in everything from "Sex and the City" to "The Gilmore Girls."

"'The Way We Were' is one of the most iconic love stories of the 20th century," said Jason Klarman, General Manager of Oxygen. "We are excited to give a new generation a chance to discover it."

"The Way We Were" stars Barbra Streisand as political crusader Katie Morosky, who finds herself drawn to handsome, carefree writer Hubbell Gardner (Robert Redford). Despite their differences in background and temperament, the improbable couple fall in love and marry. Eventually their marriage unravels against the backdrop of the 1950s Hollywood blacklist.
